Good start

It's not a bad place to be especially if one needs experience in the field of engineering. Draughting was more on mechanical draughting either than piping, the company offers more piping business and less if mechanical but I did learn alot in other departments as well such as instrumentation etc. Working in different departments I would say people are different have learned to respect people's views and who they are, to come to some middle ground. I've pretty much enjoyed learning about the plant at Sasol how it operates how they design their pipelines not something you'd know if you didn't work there. Hardest part was working in a department where a bit of stereotyping took place, like women being not considered great in engineering but I guess that's something that will change in future

Pros: Promotion would be based on alot of things that I possibly wouldn't know about
Cons: Long working hours could not be compensated

Learning curve - whichI am being underpaid

I have more than 10 years administration / office related work experience. I had work for Dutton Motors ( Motor Industry ) as a receptionist & PA , duties includes but not limited , filing , scanning , answering telephone calls , directing calls , meet & greet customers , buying office groceries , stationary , and arranging meetings and events. At Megchem I am a Document controller , control all incoming and out going documentation and maintain a reliable archiving system. I also have done switchboard , buying stationary and office consumables, I left the company ( 4 years back to join the family business ) , I have done procurement , HR , Office duties ect. Company closed down , and I start working at SAC - cylinder head specialist . Buying Parts , stationary , office consumables , arrangement of refreshments , meetings , follow up with outstanding payments . Daily recons , receiving monies and banking. Left the Company - return to Megchem 04-03-2019

Pros: I would like to get a promotion to be a office supervisior or manager , in megchem to get promoted to a gr 1 Document controller and to receive a better salary
Cons: Salary is not enough - and I think i am under paid

Good Learning

We went to site to take piping measurement and doing as build in piping. My relationship with workers it was good and also enjoying the company. I have learnt to read a tape and measuring stick. I learnt to draw site sketch and l know the different types of valve including Pipe support. I have enjoyed site work and office work. The most challenging thing at work it was offset only but my mentor show me how to design it at site for is a easy stuff.

Pros: Improving skill in working
Cons: Hard working

is goofd learning company. They know how to trdain their students everyday you Megchem is good learning company. They know how to train their students everyday you learn the seniors are always there for e every student. Professionalism is exceptional.

The company’s values are centered around client’s satisfaction and going the extra mile to improve client’s experience. Typical work day involves: creating datasheets, RFQs, Cause and Effect diagrams, loop drawings, I/O list and Instrument index. It also includes: site walks to as build the plant, alignment meetings and construction support and commissioning.

Pros: Knowledge transfer is smooth.
Cons: Not enough resources to build and improve the department.

Great place to learn. Great expertise. Well structured. Excellent work management system.

The company has earned its spot in the in the industry. It has good support structure.They invest in their employees.The rules apply one side.People are not not treated with the same level of respect.

Pros: Great place to get though.
Cons: More responsibilities than what you get paid for.

Megchem is one of the biggest company they specialise with Drafting and they have a good relationship with clients and their employees in South Africa

Pros: They train you to become a junior draughtsman and then they promote you to be a Gr1 Draughtsman

Commercial and legal issues in construction projects

Handling all commercial issues in relation to all construction projects, assisting project managers in achieving their goals and in the process limiting exposure of company to liabilities, and negotiating with all subcontractors on commercial issues

Pros: Exposure to construction in the petroleum indutry
Cons: Repetitive work same issues
