All around jack in the box

A typical day at Mega Express starts at 6:00 until 16:00 the one week and the other from 03:00 to 12:00 in that specified time you do everything from mechanical, auto electrical,panel beating... you are responsible if on standby to work your 10 hour shift and do standby after that alone with a fleet of about 41 buses. in the depot you have to sort out all the work in a certain amount of time and most of the time you cant take lunch because there is to much work for one person to handle as we are only 5 people maintaining and fixing 41 buses My relationship with co-workers is always good as we make jokes and always come to the point where we sort everything out there and then I have learned to do everything on my own and to have several backup plans if one doesn't work because most of the time your alone.

My current challange

The working hours is very demanding. The responsibilities doesn't match the rate of pay. I have learnt time management. I enjoy interacting with the customers. I enjoy the authority that I have over those that report to me. I enjoy the challenge of dealing with unskilled people, because one has to follow a different approach in motivating them. I enjoy the diverse culture of people that I am working with. This enabled me to learn to speak different languages. The challenging aspect is working outside - winter or summer.

Cons: The growth opportunity is limited to management's perception of you

Working as a Depot and SHEQ supervisor for Mega Express Unitrans

Control night shift for refueling and cleaning of buses Doing fuel control for 85 buses Starting at 5 am and work till 18:pmm On call 24/7 for accidents and technical issues

Team player

Working for this company is a challenge. I work under the Financial Manager and director. I do basically everything except for debtors. I help out with other companies as well. We are a small team that get on very well. We all work together hand in hand and help each other out when need be. The best part of this company is the people. You look forward to seeing smiling faces and bubbly personality. Coming from an IT background and working for Transport was one of my biggest challenge. I have learnt alot and always up for new challenges.
