Great learning curve

McCain is a great place to work, but the promotion is something that does not come along very easily especially in my field of work, since people stay too long in these positions. You need to be strong and cope well under pressure because at times it gets abnormally busy. And the most challenging aspect of this job is when bringing in some casual for the trimming season. I have created good relationships with the people at McCain and I enjoy working here with my colleagues and making sure that my job is well done and I am delivering to a required standard without having anyone looking over my shoulder. I am also interested in using the advanced system called SAP. The other things that I like about the company are that we do receive some vouchers to buy at Spar on top of the bonuses in December. There’s an opportunity of learning a lot at McCain. You have the opportunity to learn how they plant and harvest their crops.They have use big machinery to harvest green beans, sweetcorn and peas.

Pros: There's a lot of movement at this company, because we work with casuals most of the time.
Cons: My working hours are normal andI cant work overtime since it is not budgeted for.

Working with different people

i also had a challange starting to work with new people, which i believe that's what every person do. i now love interacting with people on the line because i believe they are the ones holding the performance of any organisation as of McCain. for me to wake up and go to work is a very important thing and its something i enjoy because i always have something i'm expected to deliever on the day, one thing i ahve learned is that at mccain my performance determines my succession factor. what i enjoy the most is working with people, seeing myself delivering the good numbers and working with teams from different department more especially the project engineering team working on projects. the one challange i am more woried about is my future with the company, there isn't really much growth i see for myself because where i want to see myself at, itsgoing to take few more years to get there and that means i'll be stuck with the salary i'm getting while i appreciating my high performance mi always deliver.

Good people in a fast environment continuously improving

- Most position are for a 12 hour shift position, worked 2 days and 2 nights at the plants - Lots of the employees are very fond of each other as they have been working for the company for long hence we also feel like family - Attitude can make or break you - A lot of team effort - Sacrificing times with our families so we can meet the volume demands of our customers

Pros: Opportunity to move across departments and excellent training program
Cons: Low staff turnover rate means also few positions open up

Review is based on a payroll position within the company

My job is very demanding and I am always busy , everyday of the week. And I work well with all the people at all levels. I have learnt so much and I enjoy working under the scheduled time which allows me to knock off at 14h 00 on a Friday afternoon which gives me enough time to attend to my own matters, And we have a shut down in December, then we can spent time with our families. The challenges that I face is when we hire the Trimmers for the Brocolli and Cauliflower season, that is extreme, you have to organize contracts for plus minus 300 people at one go, and their wages needs more attention.

Pros: It is a good company to work for but little room for promotion especially in my line.
Cons: Too much work at a short time

Excellent learning curve

I'm hard working individual who is always willing to learn and upgrade my self with the job I was trained and developed for. I like working with people as it is giving me an opportunity to upgrade on my weak points

Excellent working curve

On Very Excellent experience.on a typical day we could do so many deliveries. Also we had a great relationship with workers,I have learnt that persevering is key,I enjoyed working with different kinds of people. The challenging aspect of the job was when you expecting a delivery but only to find that expected time change
