Maxistar (Pty)Ltd Reviews

Gained extensive knowledge in the manufacturing sector

Working hours were determined by deadlines, time tables and client expectations. Most days were exciting and varied. I worked with a great team (although small we all pushed each other into new directions), I had an especially good relationship with the CEO. I came predominantly from retail and so going into manufacturing was a challenge, but one that I took hold of and learned as much as quickly as possible. I enjoyed the pressure - especially when doing presentations to potential investors having to incorporate many different scenarios and product mixes. The human resource aspects were a lot more difficult than I have ever really dealt with, Union activity was rife and could be very stressful to keep a balance between business requirements and staff demands, but I loved the challenges.

Pros: I was able to use and grow my knowledge and experiance
Cons: Cash-flow pressure was very difficult

Gained extensive knowledge in the manufacturing sector

There was no "typical" working day as such because things moved at a different pace all the the time. I attended to the daily financial matters such as debtors / creditors/ bank accounts etc, but because I believe in an open door policy there were people in and out all the time. The staff all knew if they had problems they could pop in at any time. Meetings were held each week with the senior management and normally resulted in things planned having to be moved around to attend to more urgent matters. The most challenging aspects of the job was working on a debtor fracturing system which was cumbersome and mad cashflow projections very difficult. I learned that after 26 years in 1 industry, I was able to change to something completely different and really excel in a new environment.

Pros: The industry has been suffering for a while, but with hardship come oppertunity
Cons: Trying to get an investor

Plastic Manufacturing company supplying mostly the pharmaceutical industry

I worked in an very pressurized environment in the plastics industry. I handled all the Financial and Human Resource aspects of the company under very difficult circumstances. I enjoyed most aspects of my job with the exception of the financial stress, the company was not doing well and finally went into liquidation at the end of September. There were some months when we were unable to pay salaries on time and that made the HR side of things very hard.

Pros: I was able to use and grow my knowledge and experiance
Cons: Trying to get an investor
