Good day

Provide a professional policy administration service to all client of Iconnect by managing all assigned tasks in a professional and competent manner. To accurately and within the agreed standards, capture client and policy information (such as New Business, Policy renewal and amendments) onto the policy management system. To compile Management information as required by suppliers and/or clients from time to time. Print, collate and distribute policy schedules and wordings to clients within agreed standards Record all the errors and omminisions done by team members and giving a report to the manager on a monthly basis. Allocate work flow to the team members and compiling the workflow stats on a weekly basis ensuring that we are still within the SLA’s I have learned to be accurate and concentrate in my job. Handle pressure well. The envirment great people i work with.

Cons: Work load is too much, no perfomance bonus at the end of the year, no matter how good you have perfomed

The Early Bird catches the worm

A typical day in the life of Zakir, general starts early, very early. I guess I learnt a person who takes the earliest opportunity to do something will gain an advantage over others. With coffee in hand, I peruse through my emails and check for any urgent attention.- A few sips down and into the swing of handling those I NEED TO GET DONE NOW emails. I greet my colleagues, offer them lunch, yes I eat my lunch in the morning. We discuss our day, adhoc meeting. Every single tasks I have to complete; visiting clients to discuss Renewals, handling claims, adding on that new BMW for Mr Chetty. Checking if Mr Wietz received the policy schedule I just sent him. Every tasks has a common thread and that is energy and enthusiasm channeled towards a single goal :Building exceptional relationships with clients and colleagues. Have a super NEW YEAR. Its great for career development

Its a great place for insurance heads to grow their career. You will learn a lot from this company strategies and how it executes to get business. There is no skills transfer program from seniors who are retiring to new joiners, which is great loss to a company

Great Learning Experience and Exposure to Growth.

Being with Marsh has really been an eye opener on how the industry works altogether. I now can perform Brokers duty with no supervision in certain things. I've learned a lot and I've grown to a better person since joining the industry and I'm still willing to grow more. I am able to put the need of a client before mine and it makes me so happy to see the client delighted with the work that I've done for them. It's been a good experience as it allows one to learn to operate with more than one characters of individual.

Daily job

I prepare journals for daily transitions, invoicing debtors, received and record invoices from creditors, liaise with the bank with regards to foreign funds received from our bank account so the funds can be allocated to the correct departments. Prepare Foreign exchange reports, prepare and review monthly reconciliations, monthly reporting on GAAP and IFRS. Assist in preparation of financial statements, liaise with auditors during our audit period. I also assist the statutory accountant with VAT returns of South African entities and Botswana. I also do the VAT reconciliations after the returns have been paid. Intercompany transaction between Marsh and McLennan entities within South Africa, across Africa, Europe and the United States. I liaise is Alexandra Forbes Financial Services with regards to the rental payables due to them on a monthly basis for branches we share buildings with Alexandra Forbes.

Career development and growth

Waking up every morning and coming to work gives me such a great pleasure. I enjoy working in this environment and my relationship with my co-workers is very pleasant. I have learnt a lot and I continue to strive, learn and grow everyday. I enjoy the pressure that comes with the Job and it helps me to Grow and learn more. Every Job is challenging but with the right mind and attitude, you can achieve whatever that you are heart desires. At end of the day hard work pays off.

I believe my academic background and industry experiences have provided me with the credentials that matches your requirements. I have worked for Motona underwriting manager a joint venture of Marsh insurance brokering and my duties as a technical broking is to act on behalf of the client and Liaise with underwriters, Loss adjusters and surveys. Review risk information and ensuring placement of insurance portfolio of insured is renewed (client risks are covered), managing claims (Personal Accident, Motor, Asset All risk) and Premium computation.

A life at Marsh insurance brokers

I am responsible for handling and managing my client accounts and portfolios which includes market negotiations, meeting with the client to discuss risk management and philosophy, group development within the company,review of Indemnity agreements signed by clients, marketing and selling the client risk profile to insurers. Adapting to an insurance environment proved effortless due to the legal framework and background which i possess. Insurance and law are very much integrated and based on the same principles and foundations. I get along well with all my colleagues and each colleague values my assistance and input when working together as a team.

Extensive experience in working with large and small policies

Handling medium to large sized corporate ,accounts full responsibility of compilation of broking notes, full responsibility of compilation of signing slips, market negotiations on all sized accounts, accounts and larger accounts without supervision, actively involved in building of relationships in local ,market at management level , active participant in renewal strategy meetings and market negotiations attendance of key client meetings e.g. pre-renewal and renewal meeting, dealing with wholesale broking market ,internal client & insurer liaison ,collation of underwriting information,management & administration of renewal, broking ,and placement processes external meetings with clients, contact staff and insurers as required.
