Challenging - a new position that had to get a Facility Structure in place.
The company is micro management and no decision can be made by a manager. A need to repair something urgently can take days to resolve. In some cases even longer. I have a good relationship with all my co-workers and my sub-ordinates and I work well together. I understand each of there cultures and backgrounds and adapt issues to the person and his personality and background. I have learnt to take a back step in this organisation as you are not really allowed to use your own initiative. What i most enjoy of this position is putting the structure in place, designing relevant forms, checklist and plans etc to create a flow of information in Facilities and proof of such work being done. The biggest challenge by far is running a department with no budget or funds and not knowing what I am allowed to do and what not. The company is not financially strong at present and that prevents me from having a budget to be a success in this position.
Pros: That I was left to my own devices to create the process the company requires.
Cons: Micro management by Executives to all managers.

Good work to learn from it
working shifts as a woman it was very though and not seeing your children sometimes it not good at all. Most difficult thing it was like I've reached my ceiling whe're by I was not having any promotions if u want to learn you do it yourself and the hard way.

Right atmosphere for self development
I enjoy being in the trade where things are happening. I motivate my team to reach and exceed their targets. I liaise with store managers, stock controllers, reps and merchandisers. I negotiate extra space such as gondola ends and bins to increase visibility of our products. I manage a third party outsourced sales and merchandising agency with 50 reps and we have 3 whatsapp group for Spar, PnP and Shoprite. It is sometimes a challenge to keep up with all the posts and pictures during the day when I have to do admin and other things. I do category reviews with buyers and manage promotions. Team development is very close to my heart because an effective team is the foundation of every successful business.
