Life Groenkloof Hospital Reviews

Hospital theatre equipment repairs and services was indeed a good learning curve me.

Working at Life Groenkloof Hospital gave me a lot of experience, good technical training and how to build a good working relationship with colleagues and external service providers. Every morning in our clinical engineering department we shear our good and bad daily experiences and how could it be changed if is bad, and also how could we make excellent if is good. We do this before we start with our day work plan and services. The challenge i had was to deal with the finance as other service providers would not give us service without getting the purchase order first, so this affected me as i had to come up with loan equipment that doctors could use and if i did not manage i had to be the one explaining to the doctors. It took a while but now it's sorted, now we have a service contract with other suppliers and for other emergencies i can get my senior and finance to approve immediately and purchase order generated the same day.

Pros: There was no opportunity for growth at the company and no permanent post for junior technician
Cons: We worked one and half hour every day.

My work experience

working here has been quiete an experience since it was my first time working at a hospital with no nursing backround whatsoever, but i was willing to learn and adjusted very well to this change, working hand in hand with nurses and doctors, i started as a runner in pharmacy then got a position in theatre as a billing clerk for two years and then applied for a stock controller also in theatre which is the job that i am still doing currently, i enjoy my work especially the people that i work with in the store room, we have a strong relationship and treats each other with respect, and respect our line of job also, we do the ordering of stock in the morning based on the procedures that the doctors are going to have and make sure that everything they need or acquire is available. the challengenging aspect is when you looking for stock and you cannot find it anywhere and the doctor threatens to cancell the procedure, you have to think out of the box and find an alternative that the doctor can use,

Pros: seeing how procedures are done
Cons: experienc

Excellent leaning curve

It was great opportunity I have ever received .firstly it was my first permanent job .I have been there for past 6years.i have learned a lot.to work with patient, I have learn that I'm the face of the hospital, patients need to feel welcome on their arrival. I have to be professional at all times. And be presentable. They have to save in my hand because they don't know what will happen to them during their visit.i have to give them all information they needed going forward to their wards.

Pros: Great opportunity
Cons: 12 hours

Fulfilling

Working as an admitted intern in life Groenkloof Hospital was very hard. The employer, colleagues and patients were not easy to please all at the same time. But at the end I've ended up being able to please everyone equally and I have now gained trust of the employer and colleagues. I enjoyed the small outings and team building activities that we had as a team.

Pros: Opens door for opportunities
Cons: Short staffed
