Le-Sel Research Reviews

Learnt a lot about manufacturing and working for a company in financial distress

As an operationally oriented HR practitioner I enjoyed spending time on the factory floor and was able to build effective relationships with all levels as a result. I sat on EXCO and participated in operational decision making and a large portion of my time was spent coaching and mentoring managers/EXCO in HR process, IR process and conflict resolution. The financial position of the company was extremely challenging and managing issues like late salary payments with the work force was a regular occurrence as was having to keep production going through an extremely challenging business rescue process.

Pros: Sitting on EXCO and being involved in the operations, my role was a part time role which suited me at the time
Cons: Business Rescue, my ratings are based on my experiences there, however the Company has now changed significantly and the experience would be significantly different

Great learning curve.

Media preparation, equipment verification, samples testing from raw materials to finished goods. Environmental testing and water testing. SOPs and bulk adjustments. Great colleagues with good interpersonal skills. High volumes of pressure during and after month end processes. Writing monthly reports. Follow leads during investigations and figuring out the problems as well as providing valuable feedback on what should to done as preventative measures for the future.

Pros: Offers great experience
Cons: Late salary payments

Great learning curve.

Lesel Research is a great company that has a lot of pressure for results and requires focus and multitasking. Great environment to gain experience with wonderful people always willing to help and grow you as an individual. It makes one realise that teamwork is much more important than individual excellence. Challenges arise when results are needed urgently, but it is much more better that you face challenges as a team and never alone.

Pros: Offers great experience
Cons: Late salary payments

Great learning opportunity

I interned at le-se research in the quality control/ quality assurance departments which included, microbiology, raw materials , finished goods and validation . It was a great learning experince as I was fresh from learning and going into the industry. The day would start by me internally calibrating operating machines such as scale, pH meter, Autotitrator, checking for correct temperature, Karl Fischer, etc , before testing could commence. The day would go on as tests are being conducted on different products. My thoroughly enjoyed working in the microbiology laboratory.

Pros: Great learning opportunity
Cons: Low income

An experience

Meetings for 80% of the day in a stressful, financially unstable company. Co-workers are all stressed and working long into the night to complete the days task. I have learnt that I do not enjoy the FMCG environment.

Pros: none
Cons: long hours and unsympathetic and closed management style
