My daily job includes credit assessment and credit decision making

My daily job is hectic, preparing a dairy doesn’t help at times as one deals with adhoc functions while performing my enjoyable credit assessments and attending Credit Committee meetings. I’m also attending Stakeholder Meetings of which some of them are not scheduled for. Furthermore, there are discussions within the team on how we can resolve issues on various applications. The team consist of an Economist, Credit Analyst, Legal Advisor and General Manager: Credit. Once I’m satisfied that the deal is viable or not. I like the part where I can present & recommend the applications to the various sanctioning committees to either approve or decline. Challenge is when Executive Managers from various business units are cross questioning my recommendation, however, it always teaches me to further assess other factors in the next meeting. Finally, I stand in for the General Manager:Credit in his absence.

A good opportunity for one to think latteraly

A development financiers of agribusiness both retail and corporate business arms. A challenge posed by conflicting interest in terms of commercial business vis a vis development business. The organization had to come up with tailored products to cater for both the commercial as well as the Development target market. It was always not going to be smooth sailing to focus on development, while maintaining a healthy commercial loan book. This by reason of the nature of the nature of development finance as well as commercial and corporate loans. These were to be be carried out while remaining profitable. This called for a sober corporate planning in that a balance was required between the two areas of focus.
