Labournet Reviews

Career stepping stone

My experience at Labournet has taught me HR consulting and how to handle difficult and easy clients. Some clients did not want to work in improving their compliance and sometimes I had to be strict as they pay me to do the work therefore work must be done. It taught me the importance of urgent matters especially regarding compliance matters and being able to handle time as deadlines were part of my job. I worked well with my colleagues we became a family. I enjoy running my own diary, I enjoyed meeting the different people I work with in companies. It has been a great career growth, a stepping stone to gaining experience in a well known national company.

Pros: I started off as a trainee training consultant, then i became a training consultant for a year. i was then promoted to a Senior Training Consultant and i was happy with the recognition of my work within a year and a half.
Cons: Too much driving, kills the body, the car mileage and oh yes i buy new tyres more than i need to.

Excellent learning curve

A typical work day would be to visit clients, strategise with CEO's / directors regarding BEE elements, monitoring of developed BEE strategies, managing training schedules for clients, ensuring compliance of the Employment Equity Act etc. Relationship with Co-workers: Working together as a team, ensuring the compliance of our clients, achieving internal and external deadlines together, working together under high pressure I have learnt to work under high pressure, completing reports before deadlines, I have obtained experience in all 11 Industries as I have 30 clients in various industries. I enjoy most to be actively involved in the implementation of my BEE Strategies in all my clients' companies and the monitoring of the strategies. The most challenging aspects are the constant changing of legislation and other external sources and also the management of different industry specific regulations into all the documentation.

Pros: Great opportunity for growth in the company
Cons: Long working hours as working hours are flexible

During my time at Labournet i have been exposed to multiple clients and different industries.

A typical work day: Crunch time from 8 - 5. In our field we deal with various different clients per day. We always have to stay on our toes and be aware with what is happening to keep up with our project plans, this is not a bad thing for me as I learn something new each day and enjoy being productive. I am always friendly towards my co workers and have build great relationships with them all. I have never had a problem with a co worker. I have gained a lot of skills in Microsoft Office, especially referring to Excel as 70% of our work is done on Excel. I enjoy the challenges in my work. Everyday is a new scenario, thus I learn something new every day. I would like to become the best in the work that I do and would be board and demotivated if it was easy. The most challenging aspect is meeting all the clients expectations. I deal with multiple clients per day, all have different industries and scenarios. This makes it challenging but i enjoy it.

Pros: Great learning experience
Cons: Stressful Scenario's

LabourNet is giving a clear direction in my career path

Interning for my current company has been a roller coaster of thrilling experiences. We work with different companies, in different industries. And that has given me an exposure to different business practices. Part of the job that i do is to bring in new clients, so my day will be filled with performing reseach in finding new prospects. Then from the i will record them on a spreadsheet, and find relevent information about these companies. Then i will start calling prospects. Its the culture in our company to greet co-workers when you come in the morning. To give complements to each other, like you mean it. Give helping hands to one another. I have learned that when you dealing with personal issues, you don't have to bring them to work with you. You should always keep it professional, ensuring that you prepare for a consultation meeting can be very challenging at times. Because you to take to consideration the needs of the company you consulting with.

Pros: Vast opportunities for growth and career development
Cons: Not being able to perform to ones best abilities

Amazing company to gain experience

Long hours and lots of travel but an amazing opportunity to learn and gain experience. Colleagues get along and work well together. There is a huge focus on sales and thats what employees struggle with since they are service consultants. I have enjoyed working in the various industries and being exposed to so many different environments.

Pros: Gain experience
Cons: Long hours with lots of travel

Learning Experience

This has been an excellent learning curve, extremely challenging. The job has a lot to do with sales, however, my passion lies with facilitation and training, and not very much with sales. I am one that is confident with my work and the quality thereof, and work best autonomously and do not need to be micro-managed. This company unfortunately micro-manages (making use of meetings as well as 3 activity trackers). What I do enjoy is liaising with clients and reporting. I have learnt time management, dealing with difficult clients and colleagues. A great stepping stone and knowledge-building point was working with SETAs and doing skills submissions for clients as well as attending/facilitating training and Employment equity committee meetings. Additionally working with WSP/ATR/EE reports.

Pros: Client-centric
Cons: Lack of autonomy, lack of growth

Professional Outsource Experience

Typical day at the office is very tense, high pressure. There are many clients that need to be serviced accurately. I had a good relationship with co workers and even made some outside friendships I have learnt to manage time. Prioritize. Also learnt to not take things too personally. I actually liked the challenge of ensuring employees receive their at on time. Especially because previous job was so repetitive. Most challenging is to pay attention to detail. Ensure that you process the correct values and making sure everything adds up

Pros: I learnt a great deal in one year. You are hands on for your clients so you almost like the payroll manager for each of your clients companies. You learn to find latest knowledge if payroll and work with the expectations of the clients. I actually really liked the job the need to make decisions under pressure made me feel, tired yes, but very alive at the same time
Cons: Yes, we work extremely long working hours. I once left at 1 am from the office to my house. But it makes sense because its your baby, sp you will put in the hours to ensure all systems are in place. Physically, it took a toll.

Great exposure

Focusing on improving the knowledge of clients by assisting/guiding in Labour related matters. Chairing disciplinary hearings, appeal hearings, grievance hearings and wage negotiations. Also consultations to ensure that clients are well equipped, CCMA - Conciliation and Arbitration assistance. Great team that learns from each other on a daily basis, I have entrenched myself with the knowledge to ensure that clients are trustworthy towards me. Working with a diversity of people on a daily basis, long distance travelling remain a challenge.

Pros: Great institution for learning
Cons: Unforseen long hours of working
