Stressful work environment

The Department of Education is an inefficient, inconsistent and downright, ineffective institution. I had know in my previous years as an educator that this was so. But, it has recently come to my attention in the worst kind of way. My typical day starts at 7:30am and sometimes does not end until 10pm. I am making notes; marking work or completing mark schedules. The job is now no longer smithing I enjoy doing as the DoE, school management and the teacher have not helped me when I needed help the most. What I have learnt is what I stated in the beginning of this review. I hope this review is emailed to the KwaZulu Natal Department of Education. I am also aware that should recruiters see this they might be disinclined to hire me, but I stand by my earlier assertions. I am not writing this review lightly.

Meet deadlines

*adapt in the new working environment. Able to work under pressure and met deadlines. Good communication skill and interpersonal skill. Able to solve problems as well stress management.

Pros: to being a hard worker
Cons: when you work on the department especial as an secretary, you need to be more focus and energetic because most of the time, you maintaining the diary and typing which need the effective person who will be able to do work even underpressure, also extending working hours when you got back log

Able to adapt I the new working environment and able to work under pressure.

I'm a hard worker who willing to learn and contribute with knowledge in the short period of time.I'm able to work under pressure as well to meet work deadlines in the limited time,I'm able to work individual as well as a team to compromise ideas to come up with a unit stratagey. Skill in solving problems and stress management as well to identify training needs. Good advantage when its come to time management.

Pros: Hard working
Cons: 9 to 12 hours its a long hours when we have a back log in a limited time.

Great comfortable and stable working environment

Great learning experience and exposure to different aspects of human relations. It is a slow paced environment one can relax a bit too much but a great place for acquiring an independent pace of doing work. Opportunities for growth are possible and a variety of self development avenues are offered. Serving and servicing focus driven environment , ideal for settled and conservative individuals

Challenging work

working within the department gives a pure understanding of people needs and characteristics. It teaches how does batho pele principles applies in the work environment, we get to deal with people of all type. Day to day I get different cases to deal with of which is interesting, I work with a large number of people under so much pressure. I take desisions on my own and work without supervision, i enjoy doing death cases because it comes in different forms.

Pros: it is a wild industry and you learn every day
Cons: 7:30am to 16:00pm

Excellent learning

the most challenging aspects is when we cant find the files for the teachers who wants to retire.course in oder for the teacher to cliam his or her money we have to find his or her personal details which are in that file.so it becomes very hard for the staff to process his or her pension

Quality and accuracy of work,Ability to meet established goals and deadlines,Communication skills

It is a very much great pleasure to work with the Teacher Development Directorate Team. I have learned a lot within this 15 month they thought me the importance of punctuality at work, time management ,respect , meeting deadline etc. The relationship i have with my co-workers is the one making me wake up everyday eager to go to work with the smile on my face because they're like a family to me their advice's, motivations and encouragements each and everyday. I have learned that at work you do not need to be hard on clients you need to wear a smile on your face everyday treat everyone equally and give respect to each and every employee regardless of age or position. What i enjoyed at work is when am given a hard task though it might be challenging but i am always willing to learn new things i give it a try in everything. The most challenging aspects of the job is when our facilities froze like Printers, Faxes, phones and sometimes you will find that the computer tower got the problem and the work has to stop.

Excellent communicator

Every work day is different. Working in the education sector is demanding yet very rewarding. Students come from a diverse background and have differing abilities. One has to manage students and communicate ideas to them in a learner-friendly manner. One has to assess them and communicate with other stake holders such as parents and department officials. Written communication is a crucial aspect of this job as one has to report on student achievement. The most challenging aspect of this job is making education accessible to all students. The most rewarding is when a student does well and goes on to excel at a tertiary institution and later in industry and I know that I have contributed to the making of that student who can take his/her rightful place in society.

Excellent area of development

KZN DOE offers an excellent experencial learning though the time frame they provide for the program is too short to learn every thing within HR Department.
