Great Opportunity to Implement New Culture

A newly formed bus service company, providing a BRT service for Ekurhuleni Metro. 80% of the workforce is to come from the Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry (ETI) and 20% from the affected communities. At a stage where transformation is everything, transforming former taxi drivers into qualified bus drivers. Policies, strategies streamlining processes, project meetings with stakeholders, induction and orientation form the order of the day at HR. I am seen as the go-to person within the company. Most of my time is spent on policy development and mentoring employees. I have learned a lot about the different stakeholders within the ETI and the National Land & Transport Act. Making a meaningful impact in the lives of people who we never formally employed provides sense of fulfilment. Being a trusted agent of the leadership, who still need to acquire formal business leadership skills and/or competencies enhances it. Delayed project milestones due to other stakeholders. Also longer approval process of policies

Pros: Immediate impact on strategies and policies implemented.
Cons: Resistence to change - especially culturewise.

Work experience

Considering that we are a fairly new company I have learnt a lot from basics in running an organization, and the company has also grown a lot considering that we first operated 8 eight buses, and now 40 forty buses. makes me feel proud and a part of something special, bearing in mind that we are operating one of the largest metro's being the only metro in Gauteng that has an Airport, Gautrain and Emperors palace and Carnival city as part of our attractions.

Pros: Opportunity to learn/Experience
Cons: Limited growth opportunity

The company is still new

Being part of this company its nice though we still there's still a lot to be implemented professionally, most of the days at work days are typical because there's is no production, I am very friendly with my colleagues though not everyone will be friendly to me. I have learnt that if you want something , you have to beg. I enjoy nothing about this company unfortunately except for baby showers and birth day celebrations but no recognition rewards. And the most challenging aspects of my job is when I feel undermined by my fellow colleagues
