Good experience

The experience is excellent. Completed my SAICA articles in 5 years as I was still completing my undergraduate degree. Learnt as many things as possible. We are thrown into work from day one with very little or no training so I had to take responsibility for my own development and did a lot of research every time I was given a new task to do. Work colleagues are great and very helpful. There are still a lot of cons. Office is always understaffed so there is too much of work pressure. There are no incentives or rewards given for a job well done nor is it acknowledged. Very little pay and yearly bonuses don't change much. I'm just glad for the experience. Being an audit senior, I can perform all accounting and tax tasks. I can draft financial statements from trial balances, I can calculate and submit every SARS statutory document e.g. vat, paye, income tax, etc. I am also able to pick up on new tasks fast and have an excellent knowledge of accounting processes.

Pros: Great work colleagues
Cons: Long hours, no overtime given and pressurized working environment

Decent

Decent place but limited potential for growth and limited exposure to larger clients. Salary could be better. The people are what keeps everyone sane.
