Getting exposed to a different industry and excellent learning curve

Working at KOT I would take it as a great opportunity because it where I got exposed to imports , learning the process of how clearance takes place and many other things done when importing a container in South Africa and process from port till the warehouse where the goods will be offloaded. When I got to work I always have to check ETAs of the vessels, import storage, if transporters have collected containers at port, delivery and returned to depot in time, sending clearance documents, checking invoices, preparing delivery instruction, keeping update of all my shipments, attending to any problems or urgent matters. The challenging aspects about the job is that it has a lot of work and the company is importing lots of container, sometimes you are unable to finish the work in time as there will some urgent matter that you need to attend and you'll have to leave the work you have prepared to do for the day and attend to the issue. The is no enough time to complete all the work.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning and gaining experience and knowledge about imports
Cons: Long hours and working on saturdays

Very challenging working with different nationalities

very challenging working with different nationalities A typical work day is very busy with IT related problems mostly caused by co-workers relationship between co-workers are good, friendly and mostly informal. i have learned one thing and that is that in a fast learner, and how to work on your own. no real team work.

Pros: great staff
Cons: young adults with no real work experience (20-26 years old) in manager potions.

Excellent learning curve

Working in competituve company environment must be sales driven and be a team player. Focus on individual Customers daily is required it helps in targeting customer sales and reach your target monthly. Good relationship with workers team building and company culture helps in understanding each other's strength and weakness and helps improve them. I learnt how to deal with diffrent customers in diffrent area like chainstore customer and a wholesale customer. Price is always a challenge customer always fight for a better price it doesn't matter the price today is better than yesterday price.

Chinese owned company, everything is done differently

Poor management skills, stuff underplayed & overworked. Customers complains not dealt with accordingly, very poor service. Employees not taken care of only favours the once who have been with the company for years. No growth nor opportunity to grow within the company. Salary packages not good at all

No growth

Disrespectful, don't understand other peoples culture, at times inconsiderate but otherwise a nice place to be and good team work at all times target driven and well paying.
