Great learning opportunity

Kellogg is a big company with specific production targets on a daily basis that must be met. This requires one to be flexible and enjoy what they do. A typical working day in the Quality department includes internal Auditing where we walk the plant and note down non conformances in terms of Good manufacturing practices, hygiene and cleanliness, pest control, condition of building etc and establish corrective actions. Hourly food reviews prior to product release to the external warehouses or to the market. Team work is key thus having good communication skills and problem solving skills is assential. I have learnt quite alot this includes document control, Internal Auditing, Aseptic sampling, the importance of specifications and adhering to them. Problem solving is very interesting were one must be able to make decisions that will benefit the business and not compromising the quality of food.

Hard working, analystic and energetic.

I am an experienced finance professional with over 10 years, having largely worked in the FMCG industry and in the Rest of Africa. I am currently finishing off my CIMA qualification, Strategic level. I'm proficient in MS, SAP and many BI tools.

Challenging but impowering

I work as a quality assurer and also involved in safety & Sanitation and Document Control. Its been a challenging and good learning curve for as i get to work with people, coach them and sometimes have to stand and overwrite their decisions as quality and safety of our food is important for us to keep customers. Working with elderly people is a challenge because they feel you are you to be telling them what to do or they have more experience as compared to them but knowing what i stand for and also not forgetting the respect i can communicate in a way that they find it easy to understand and also do what i ask of them.

Pros: Dedication and Hard Work lead to good reference
Cons: workload is a lot
