New industry with excellent learning curve for new entrants

I spend 2 years with the company In A new industry to implement a new Africa strategy which has been a success . I learned a lot and the execution of the strategy was successful. I designed the strategy in the first 3 months whilst assessing gaps and executed it in line with best practice and enhancing company values and immensssion regionally and continentally.

Pros: Great experience for a new Entrant in the market since it's the only monopoly Exchnage in the country
Cons: Long working hours with no room for growth and promotion since it's a small company with long service employees

Constant High Pressured Environment

Currently there are numerous high priority projects taking place. Furthermore, each portfolio manager has a portfolio of production systems that they are expected to manage. As the organization matures in governance processes, various managers have governance related responsibilities (e.g. COE, ISSC, BPC). Vendor management from cradle to grave is another aspect of our role. And obviously, resource and budget creation and management is central to the role. Stakeholder engagement at the executive level is expected of me and to ensure that there is strategic alignment between IT and business. I love the ability to grow my team members. I enjoy the technical complexity I cherish the stakeholder engagement to the heads of business departments and further to the executives responsible for these businesses. I enjoy due to the visionary and strategic nature of the role. This also pushes me and my team to continually strive for out of the box solutions and drive a high-quality delivery based solution.

Pros: High delivery environment. Great people culture
Cons: Poor work life balance and poor renumeration

Excellent place to learn as a Junior business analyst

Great work environment Great teamwork Gym facilities available Support for Junior staff from seniors is always available. I have learned a lot about being about being a Business Analyst.

Learner

I do not have any previous work experience related to the job am applying for, but I am a fast learner. Learning new things has always been a great motivator for me. In every project or assignment I've had, I believe I've always been able to learn something new, or a new way to look at a problem. I always keep my head up, focus and work hard to accomplish what I want and my goals.

Pros: Good environment
Cons: Don't sponsor education fees for learners

Versatile, good communicator and strategist

My work environment entails reading, research intelligence and policy advisory to the group. This ranges from relationship building both internally (colleagues) and externally (clients and members). With the appreciation that such relationships are currently in good standing, managing it requires good time management, communication skills and living up to agreed commitments and deliverables. However, stakeholders can get unreasonable sometimes particularly on issues where their demands are impractical. I enjoy conducting research intelligence and being innovative in problem solving.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning and growth
Cons: Unpredictable policy climate

Learnt from the best

I take my work very seriously but also build good relationships with my co-workers. I've learnt to be more patient in a corporate environment and just focus on what need to do and execute that with excellence. I am committed to my deadlines and will work long hours if i need to.

Great exposure to the business ecosystem in SA
