Eye opening

Interesting working environment where i get to network with people i will never meet on my every day life. It is eye opening my job and work place. I have learnt so much about technology and the new way that companies are now working in the world of digitization. The opportunities and threats that come with digitization. The environment one is in needs a lot of team work and motivating each other and inspiring each other. As a project lead person i work with various teams and good communication skills are required. Since we also have the publishing side of the business its not just the events team but almost the whole company. Tight deadlines and wanting to strive for putting out high quality of work and wanting to remain leaders in the industry makes one look at their job in a different way. The employees look and take into consideration the company objectives and goals in a holistic manner.

Gained experience in marketing, article writing and research, and survey analytics.

ITWeb is SA's largest online IT News Portal and the past 7 years have been extremely beneficial to my career. I'm responsible for all communications supporting our Surveys, both internationally and locally. On a daily basis I deal with many varied clients and write pre and post survey articles. I'm also responsible for the every aspect of the marketing duties that are involved with the launch of each one of our surveys, which I find satisfying as the successful marketing of a survey equals interested respondents and satisfied clients.

Pros: ITWeb has enabled me to learn complex IT relevant communication and analytics, as well as learning how to manage quite a vast team of survey specialists within the company.
Cons: The IT market has become a little saturated and after 7 years at ITWeb I am looking for a new challenge where I can put my writing, interpersonal and project management skills to good use.

Learning curve

Strict deadlines, sharpens one on punctuality and being independent minded person. Working unsupervised. Great learning curve for working with clients, how to be professional and client serving ethics.
