Fantastic exposure and learning

I have had a fantastic 3 and a half years at investec and different roles and i have been exposed to dealings and clients/corporate dealings of massive magnitudes. On the daily i deal with a loan book of over 1 billion rand that i manage. I do everything from the deal management to the accounting balancing of different cost centers and business units. I also manage all cash movements, invoicing,reconciling and month end clearing of my all my loans . I have a fantastic working relationship with with my colleagues and enjoy working with them. It has been such a eye opening experience and so much learning over the years. It has been very challenging working with the sums that i work with and continuously ensuring one remains accurate due to the enourmous amounts of money we work with. This has however been a good learning curve at a high pressure environment.

It has been a great experience

A typical day, coming in have breakfast, and start working on the client's queries. The relationship with my co-workers was great, we support and treat each other like family. I have learnt that a little bit of sense of humor can make your day great. I enjoyed working on calculations, putting our heads together to crack numbers. The most challenging thing is dealing with complaining clients.

Learning Curve

• Opening of new files; • Attending to new tasks from banking consultants; • Generating Settlement Quotes for Home Loans • Sending Bond Cancellation instructions to different firm of Attorneys; • Signing Consent to Bond Cancellations and sending off to the Attorneys • Allocations of funds when a bond has been cancelled at the Deeds Office • Release of security or collateral

Great exposure to different business units

My experience has earned me the ability to interact with different people of different levels. I am familiar with the administration and development of compliance programs in general. I have mastered the ability to be resilient .

Excellent learning curve

Working at Investec asset management was the most challenging but extremely exciting. The attention to detail, rules, laws, compliance was constantly changing meaning learning was a big part of the culture there.

I am looking to make a change in careers

I enjoy working in a team but am happy to work on my own. Ideally the perfect role for me would not be client facing. I am a figures person . i have learnt to appreciate different cultures and embrace every individual for who they are

Great company for experience.

Freat company to work for but little recognition for great work and no room for growth. There is a lot of work to get through but very little resources to make it efficient. Would certainly recommend it for anybody wishing to break into the corporate world as it offers great opportunity for one to know what they really want to do.

Great place to work

However there is a flat structure which leads to no room for growth. On the up side the company culture is workable and easy to relate to. Staff are take care of in terms of employee programs etc

It's a great learning curve

Working as an operator for bank has been a great learning curve in terms of banking and IT. The environment is great as well as workers As much as your an individual we work as a team to provide more for the business My challenges would be working hours.I'm comfortable with 8 hours a day more if needed
