Great learning opportunities, lots of growth potential in Operations

My typical work I start with going through my calendar and making sure that I have documents ready for any meetings or interviews that I need to attend. I then start to work through my e-mails. I typically have at least one interview per day. I assist the HR Director with all her reports. I also run with whatever project we have going at our company. e.g. we are busy with a grading exercise at the moment, so I schedule all the sessions for this and send updated project schedules. Currently we are also being audited, so I am going through all our documents to ensure that everything is in order. I also attend to all ad hoc queries from staff or suppliers. I love everything in HR, but I really enjoy recruitment and dealing with all the remuneration stuff. Both recruitment and remuneration gives me this feeling of satisfaction once I have completed certain tasks. The most challenging thing for me is definitely the fact that we do not have a HR systems and everything needs to be done manually.

Pros: Great opportunity for growth and promotion, also good remuneration packages
Cons: Small corporate support team, so not much growth opprtunities

Good learning curve coming from an audit environment into a financial management environment.

A typical day in my job includes the approval of payments and approving procurement of goods and services against authorized budget. I also inspect that accounting amounts have been accurately recorded. I ensure that controls have been implemented as per policy. I came from an audit environment and settled well into a financial management environment which required a steep learning curve. I enjoy making a contribution to the company in terms of ensuring the accounting and finances of the company is in order. Challenging aspects of the job is multiple ad hoc queries and information requests. However these are part of the job and I have learnt to handle them. Our environment is one of camaraderie and we get along well with other divisions.

Pros: Good culture
Cons: Not enough learning opportunities

Learning Experience this year. Exposed to many new technologies and techniques

A normal is having stand up in the morning and fixing bugs or creating new features. My relationship with my co workers is good. We get along well and help each other where and when we can. I have nothing negative to say about any of them as they are kind and always willing to help me understand something when fixing bugs. I learned a lot this year. I am interning at the company so I was exposed to a lot of technologies I did not know of. Such as Ngrx, React, Angular, Typescript, Jira, Git. So I really enjoyed that. I did backend development first but I really did not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the front end. I enjoyed learning angular framework and how it works. Was really interesting to the work we busy with go into production for the first time. Most challenging part had to be learning all these new technologies and also truly understanding it and how it works. Also needing to understand the system as well can help you a lot if you need to fix a bug.

Pros: Being an intern I could learn a lot and gain a lot of skills. Always a helping hand when you stuck on something and learning how to solve an issue for every issue you get.
Cons: Not being able to sit where all the developers sit. Area i sat was very noisy so at time it would be really hard to get work done.
