Excellent learning curve

When I get to work I like to greet my co workers. Plan for the day and have coffee. I build the relationship with the co workers in such that when I send them findings they no longer protective of themselves, they look at the facts and correct where necessary. And in other way this works the same when they6have questions on my findings i welcome them and correct where necessary. I engage with them during the day when it's not clear on what could have happened with the process. I've learnt that in a career like this you don't engage a person but rather a process that might have not being followed. I'm happy with the fact that I'm able to communicate with different types of people and with different attitudes. The most challenging part of my work is when I have to bring out processes that are not followed that leads to disciplinary. I still do my work, even though it doesn't make it easy when another person have to go through disciplinary processes because of my findings.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion somewhere else
Cons: No growth opportunity within the company

Manager: Legal an compliance

I am a hard worker, lots of experience in court foe 16 years. Then broaden my experience and worked at the Fais Ombud as a senior case manager. Currently working as a legal and compliance officer. Do all legislation, CPD and implementing of acts and legislation. Drafting of reports for directors and do all contracts and intermediary agreements and signing off of all docs in the company. This is a high role i manage and huge responsibility. I also appear in court on matters should it be necessary to defend the company. I also oversee the department of FAIS complaints ans complaints that needs to be handled from clients and the Insurer.

Pros: Hard worker and asset to the company
Cons: Nothing

Touchpoints could be any and all elements relating to the entire employee lifecycle

I have learnt that as an HR practitioner, the real value add is in supporting and upskilling line, who are invariably functional / operational specialists, with people management sadly lagging. My primary function is however to ensure that employees are treated fairly and equitably and that all our human capital interactions are within the parameters of legislation and aligned with out values.

Pros: Understanding of the mechanics of three entities, each with their own character and focus.
Cons: HR is not regarded as a business and startegic partner
