Good learning experience

I work as an underground electrician responsible for the daily duties of an electrician. Have a serviceman and 2 assistants under my supervision. Carry out daily maintainances and services on locos, conduct new electrical installations, do earth leakages, etc. Attend breakdowns on winches and do fault findings. Working with the crew taught me how to be a team player. Implats gave me the opportunity to gain experience in my field under the supervision of the foreman and my section to supervise. I was also given the opportunity to plan and organise overtime. Its a pity i am an external and the company is not appointing externals. I also had a callout card to attend emergency breakdowns

Pros: Great opportunity for appointment
Cons: Normal working hours unless its necessary for long hours

Exposure to different vertical shaft systems

Review night shift production. Communicate with day and night shift department heads, Safety, Production, Incidents and planing for the day. Daily interaction with co-workers to enhance safety awareness. Safety challenges faced is people behavior.

Too much experience gained

Been working at implats has taught me lot of things like working under a lot of pressure working in confined spaces and lot of challenging fault finding but most of all i have an amazing team who makes my daily job more enjoyable.
