Although my experience is, in the main, from the private sector, I have had some indirect work association with the state. I am confident that given an opportunity, I will have the versatility to fit in the new work environment and perform the job to the best of my ability as I have done in my previous work employment.

Excellent learning curve, exposure and growth potential.

This company allows staff to realise their full potential, to be themselves and to strive to be better. it also teaches one to extend a hand to others, especially the less fortunate, exposure to industries and professionals, is great in my position as my CEO deals with a lot of companies and even the government at senior, board and ministerial levels. Everyone is treated with respect and professionalism. I enjoy that I am free to explore, to learn as I am an ongoing learner, to ask, to seek more knowledge and am not confined to what I do. I am freely told where I can develop myself outside the ambit of the company. the most challenging aspect of my job is ensuring that there are no conflicts in the calendar throughout the year, have to decline some invites and reschedule others. some appointments get postponed until the end of the year as we deal with so many companies, boards, the government and still have to meet the requirements of the company we are employed by.

Pros: As stated above, one can only limit oneself.The company even organises workshops, overseas learning and training, has an academy.
Cons: There is really no time for lunch. Weekends, when on leave or on holiday can be called on for something. one has to remember appointments and dates off by heart at ll times, i.e. to say the calendar as is.

Diverse work environment

The company was on a growth curve when I joined and this was an exciting and learning experience for the company and myself. The journey has resulted in me understanding the challenges of a small company, and the processes and changes needed to develop into a medium sized company and what needs to still be done to achieve its aspirations to become a player in industry. The biggest challenge for me has been the change in culture for the company and how to drive that through all levels of he business.

Job insecurity is always in mind.

Typical day is prioritising what's most important and trying to get this done, however there are always little crisis situations that come in between that hampers my daily list. Doing the job of 3 people, very stressful and the environment is extremely stressful which is not necessarily bad, but also not good all the time. Relationship with co-workers extremely satisfying especially those of my team. I keep the team motivated at all times no matter how I'm feeling. It's great to be the Team Lead for the Bid Office as these individuals work extremely hard and always do their best for the good of the company. Challenging is the exec team who do not lead by example and are poor communicators

Cons: Long hours, poor comms from exec management

Learning Opportunities is excellent.

I gained sound knowledge of Solutions Architecture and Delivery having a good understanding of processes and technology, having deployed successfully ERP Systems and Customer Contact Centres for ICT-Works at client sites. I also have gained demonstrated experience in ITIL methodology and project planning principles and control. Through ICt-Works I have completed my ITIL and Prince2 Practioner certifications and I have successfully on various projects using and demonstrating deep proficiency in ITIL and PRINCE2 methodologies.

Pros: Exposure to different types of technology

A day in PM

Due to my position, I work independently and have weekly meeting with my manager. My day starts between 07h30-08h00 and I close-off around 16h00-16h30. I have a good relationship with my colleagues and am approached quite often for advice. I enjoy quite a lot the mentoring and knowledge sharing sessions that I have with my manager and has learned quite a lot w.r.t. using MS EXCEL for reporting purposes. The most challenging aspects is to do research and select the most appropriate information that is available. I am exposed to writing business cases and strategies which gives one a different view on the strategic level of the work.

Pros: Wonderful manager to work for
Cons: No job security

Detail focused

ever since i have joined the company, i have grown so much. ICT-Works managed to take me to course (MCSE). i have been able to work independently as well as within a team.

Entry level

It's a challenging working somedays very stressful but manageable. We get along very well with other co works. I have learned new challenges as it was my first time working in the sector.
