Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator Reviews

Excellent learning curve

In a typical day in my current position I fulfilled management tasks of opening and closing the facility, as well as overseeing a staff of seven individuals. Throughout the day I completed various administrative duties as well, including answering phones, drafting documents and emails, filing and greeting customers. I also provided strong customer service and resolved customer issues. My relationship with my Colleague is awesome, we communicate effectively, we have mutual respect one another, and we respect the fact that we all different. I have learnt that being friendly, loving people, being tidy and have a good communications skills is the key, even though some of the tasks I do are also as important. I enjoy helping and or assisting people face to face and telephonically. The most challenging aspect of the job is when one of my colleagues collapsed or is seriously injured then I must step in to help and call an ambulance, I used to panic a lot however I have learnt to stay calm.

Pros: Great opportunities for growth
Cons: Salary is not good

Good entry level work experience

Working at Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator is life changing to me because I can work even if when I'm not monitored the kind of work I'm doing is changing people's life and giving them hope to find employment.I go out in the field look for unemployed youth of South Africa who meet the Harambee criteria I am not promising them a job but giving them hope to find one as I register their details.I enjoy connecting with people hearing them out and what can be challenging sometimes is coming across areas that are not safe that I take time to reach my daily target because I cannot move from door to door that I end up waiting for people to come out that I push to.even register their unemployed family or friends that reach the Harambee criteria. Relationship that I have with my co workers is good because we work as a team when we are out in the street look out for one another.

Pros: There is a room to grow
Cons: No guarantee of safety in the field

Amazing learning experience

Requires project management skills in that you need to put together a project plan and get it approved. This plan will include the budget, schedule, team, resources and candidates. On a weekly basis you manage the project against the approved plan. Administratively weekly progress reports are generated and discussed with relevant stakeholders like finance, QA, Facilitators, facilities, Key Accounts and candidates. I enjoy this role because it allows me to communicate at different levels and manage a big team.

Pros: Constant learning
Cons: Reached a ceiling

Great university

A good day at work is always made by the team i work with. The relationship with my co-workers within the team is amazing one of the reasons i look forward to go to work. i have learned good communication skills, client services, working good within a team and so much more. What i enjoy the most is making that one call that is going to change a life, calling a candidate and inviting them for an interview, giving them a chance to secure a job that some have been looking for, for many years gives me fulfillment considering the unemployment rate in our country. What's most challenging about the job its when we have a demand or opportunities which are far from the people or rather community and it makes it hard to reach the target or invite enough people for that opportunity because of travel cost.

Pros: Changing lives
Cons: Not enough salary for basic needs
