Group Five Coastal Reviews

Great exposure and promised growth

Gets busy when one has to do interim payment certificate for all subcontractors on site and do measurements on a 48km project. Takes dedication and passion to wake up each morning and add more value to the company. Great team to work with, foremen who are very helpful and good at their job and the whole team is like a family away from home.

Pros: Awesome exposure and speedy growth with visible progress
Cons: Long hours at work and gets hectic most of the time with a lot of subcontractors to manage

Great exposure to different aspects of the industry

In a short space of time, I have worked on 3 projects with a minimum project value of R400 million to a maximum of R1 billion. I have been in the deep end side of quantity surveying where I was in a swim or drown situation. As a graduate QS l was handed over an R400 million job to manage all by myself with very little senior assistance and I came out a victor and learned a lot during this time.

Pros: Good platform for growth of experience
Cons: Working on weekend and during the week working 7am to 5pm

It was a very learning curve for me and had made me grow to who I am today

I always loved working for the company but the current management seems to fail in managing the employees properly and taking into account the value n loyalty the employees are adding and giving to the company. I get along with all my colleagues even know is more of you need to watch what you say to who. Politics is the name of the game I believe and it is very straining and frustrating. I believe in fairness and respect regardless of the gender, race, religion, etc

Pros: Great responsibility which leads to more growth
Cons: Long working hours without recognition

Excellent learning

I start at 7:30 and finish at 5:00. My job is to do general filing, order stationery, typing outgoing correspondence, general admin duties, etc. I get along very well with my colleagues. The environment is very friendly. The manager is approachable and is always willing to assist where needed. I have learnt to multitask and to prioritize. I also learnt to work well in a team. I enjoy working with such lovely people who are always willing to assist. The most challenging aspect of the job is the fact that I have a disability therefore I need assistance every now and then to be able to fulfill my duties.

Pros: Being the face of the company, gives me a chance to excell
Cons: I start too early. long hours
