Grindrod Locomotives Reviews

There were a few good things about working here. The pay and benefits are excellent.

I master my job and my work is appreciated by my peers and management. This is a place that will help you get there. People work here years and years, and they are happy to share how they've progressed through the company. The pay is better than average. Benefits? Not a lot of places these days have the type of medical and retirement plans offered. Productive work environment. Everyone is professional. Easy to focus on tasks at hand. You get trained on all the jobs unless you come in with experience, you start off on the bottom tier of pay for the position until you reach the top. My typical day at work would consist of capturing timesheets on system, preparing purchase requisitions and picking slips, processing leave forms, answering phone calls, taking queries from employees to Management or HR ( duties may vary each day). I mostly enjoyed working with a bunch of very friendly colleagues.

Pros: You get easily recognised
Cons: Injuries and Health hazards: Accidents are most likely to occur here

We are a company in trouble due to a lack of proper procedures and processes.

The company lacks skills and systems. If systems are properly implemented, quality and productivity will improve tremendously. Forward planning and testing in terms of new products also need to be improved. Financial management accounts need to be improved so that targets can be set and easily monitored and managed. Procurement needs to be drastically improved, particularly in terms of stock holding and on-time delivery. The company is in a position where huge improvements can be made in a short time span, resulting in substantial bottom line improvements. Health and Safety standards also need to be improved, preferably through the use of a NOSA type program with annual audits. KPI's linked to performance bonuses need to be set. The learning curve in this job has been huge, particularly as there were no systems in place. There is a sense of achievement and satisfaction when we roll our locomotives out the door for shipping to customers, particularly when we have positive feedback from the end users.

Pros: Huge opportunity for improvement.
Cons: A lack of systems and support from other departments.

Prompted to persuade my skills

I'm always working close with my supervisor I'm always alerted to apply safety first at any task given It is a friendly working society but though it is restricted by the working regulations of the company. We always try to assist each other as co-workers, with fair pace and correct requirements related to the company's policy Best part of it all is when projects which I participated in, becomes competent

Pros: The potential I bring out, it has build most of my confidence
Cons: Incompetent production time frame

Challenging, responsibility, ability to implement new systems, good communication skills

My job requires a lot of responsibility as far as safety of employees, avoiding pollution to environment, and ensuring that employees have a safe place to work at and they are also wearing the proper protection. Challenges about it is implementing new systems and getting employees to comply, but with good communication with them and make them understand the requirements of the act when it comes to duties of employees and also for the employer. I enjoy it because my mind has to always think about new things to make changes and it keeps me on my toes because I have to try and prevent incidents

Pros:
