Grant Thornton Reviews

Great exposure to a variety of taxpayers

I have had exposure to new types of taxpayers as there is a larger variety. Smaller firms tend to gravitate to a specific kind of client, whereas a large firm like this and it's corporate environment attracts a variety of taxpayers from different industries. I have six immediate co-workers with the same title, we have a great working relationship. unfortunately due to the size of the firm there are people who take advantage of certain aspects and hardly puts in a full days work. They arrive late or go home early and it's a concern as it costs the company money. Most challenging aspect would be internal processes, they tend to be frustrating as there is a lot of admin involved.

Pros: Exposure to variety of clients, work/home life balance is great
Cons: no bonus, not everyone works with the same work ethic and when your are part of a team it makes high quality output difficult.

Excellent learning curve, hard working

I am an aspiring Chartered Accountant and I intend making my mark in the dynamic corporate environment by utilizing my expertise efficiently and effectively. I also intend to study a MBA qualification once I have qualified as a Chartered Accountant (Board 1 and Board 2 exams to be written in 2017). This will allow me to increase my technical knowledge, and thus allowing me to apply it effectively in practice. Therefore enabling me to contribute positively to the economy. I have good leadership and communication skills but also a team player. I am a firm believer that each individual you encounter with has something to offer or teach you. Thus, I am always willing to learn from others but also share what I have to offer. I have also given a talk to in a career fare to secondary students: http://www.sabc.co.za/news/a/97f3860049679a918d53bffbc39efa26/Youth-urged-to-take-advantage-of-opportunities

Pros: Great teams, great working environment
Cons: limited career progression

I am outgoing, friendly person with excellent communication skills.

I always prefer to work during the early hours of the day.Work must be completed, done on that particular day as tomorrow may never come. when leaving the office my in-tray confirm that the day is over. Where no clarification, or verification is acquired I always consult. Never ever assume a bout issues be ready for challenges or critics I have learned that they are the tools to knowledge and experience. Deadlines where people panic I have been with the corporate industries for 31 years, where todays work is left for tomorrow. I have viewed this and learn to do my best on my day's work. Is to have a manager who is clueless

Pros: I believe promotions comes with abilities for which at KPMG was promoted twice.
Cons: Do work etra hours if my days work was not accomplished.

I am an extreme hard worker, willing to learn and better myself.

I carry extensive admin skills from Accounts to events, training coordination and submission of tenders. I have been with grant Thornton for six years and through those years i have learned a lot as grant Thornton gives you the benefit to grow. A typical work day for me is always busy as i have tenders, finance queries and invoices for some of our contractors. I have a very good working relationship with my colleagues we always partner up to work hand in hand to submit before deadlines. I started as Junior at Grant Thornton and have learned perseverance and hard-work is recognized and it will it get you far. What i enjoy most about my job is to be busy i love it when my mind races.

Pros: Flexible Time
Cons: You have to wait for someone to submit before you submit.

Great opportunity to grow

Grant Thornton is a great company. The work environment is welcoming and the co-workers are always willing to help. We get along with all those in senior positions and their attitude towards others is a friendly one, if you are not an employee and you see the interaction between seniors and juniors, you will never know which one is a junior and which one is a senior. I have developed so many skills including but not limited to accounting software, inter person skills and time management. I have enjoyed my time working under such a firm due to the fact that they did not only develop me as a trainee/ young graduate tying to make something of my qualification but have also groomed me a professional in the industry.

Pros: Great place to learn and develop one
Cons: long hours but only if there are tight deadlines
