Goldwind Reviews

Site Civil Engineer and GR(8.1) (Alternative for EPC Contractor for CBOP, EBOP and Turbine Erection

oncrete), had to be inspected for rebar placement, spacing, cover, etc. Once the concrete arrived for placement, slump tests were done, to confirm workability and test cubes were made up, for concrete strength on 7, 14 and 28 days. All roads, hardstands and stormwater management measures were designed on site, to disrupt the indigenous vegetation as little as possible, but to do what is required to manage the storm water. The privilege of working in green fields and to assist in protecting the natural environment in a sensitive natural area, was a challenge but also very rewarding. I was involved in the development of equipment to process invader plant species from the construction footprint, into animal fodder. This was very rewarding, as the utilization of a problem plant, became a food source for the livestock. The most challenging aspect of the work was to keep within the time limits of the programme and to adopt to challenging rock formations on areas where roads and foundations were to be constructed.

Pros: Challenging but rewarding project. Learned a lot.
Cons: Very long working hours, like up to 20hr shifts.
