I enyoy working at Glencore, but I need to find a new direction in life.

Dirkie Taljaard I started my career at Optimum coalmine on the 1st August 2003 as an Issue and receiver at the Rotable Stores. After almost a year at Rotables, I was given the opportunity to proof myself as the new Diesel Controller. There was a great deal of responsibility on my shoulders. My goal was to lead in my field and be the best I can be, make my employers proud of me and be a great asset to my company. I soon realized that I need to work hard and be true to myself. With my knowledge and expertise I was assisting the production team with diesel and lubes volumes and see to that there where no run dry on diesel and lube tanks and suppliers and Vendors comply to contractual obligations I know by being honest to my employers and showing respect to my fellow team mates, I can achieve my goals

Pros: no
Cons: yes

A leader in waiting

This is the most fulfilling job because I love what I do and I am always striving to be on good terms with all my colleagues, be they seniors and subordinates. My typical work include the supervision of all the staff members under my care, including the student body of around 150 at the time. I moderate all assessments that the trainers complete, keep overall discipline and general safety of the centre. I am also co managing the training centre as a second in command after the Training Supt. I love and enjoy helping people and getting people to become the best they could through encouragement and instilling discipline and self worth. I do not see any challenges because they all form part of the training environment.

Pros: I am part of a team that creates and develops Artisans and not only for our organization but for all the mines in the eastern limb.
Cons: Our training centre is slowly building its reputation as a training centre of choice. This is evident from the reviews we are getting from our clients and the kind of artisans that we produce
