Excellent learning curve

GIBS has been the first company I worked for and went from being a temp to a permanent position. They have provided me with lots of opportunities and gave me room for growth. They have assisted me in growing to be the mature women I am and able to take important decisions. The job has helped me improve my skill in communicating and loading with clients, over the phone, through email and on a one on one level. My manager has given me an insight on senior work in terms of handling project that are usually done by senior staff, for example, dealing with copyright. An insight on copyright was the most interesting and is what I enjoyed the most. What was most challenging is dealing with difficult students and faculty members however over the years I have learnt the skill of how to deal with difficult situations.

Pros: Great learning space and educational opportunities.
Cons: There is no room for growth in terms of position (unless there is a person who has resigned).

To provide logistical and management support to the Full Time and Part Time PDBA Programme Manager

▪ Responsible for the smooth handover of data, information and briefs on all students through the academic year to the relevant team members ▪ Responsible for managing, co-ordinating and all logistics related to aegrotat examinations ▪ Provide administrative and logistics support to the Full Time and Part Time PDBA Programme Manager ▪ Pre programme administration – Venue bookings; function sheets; assist in the compilation of students’ guidelines, name tents, international faculty reservations etc. ▪ Maintaining and updating student records on CRM timeously ▪ Build course packs and arranging loading of course material on Aspire ▪ Manage the distribution of course packs and textbooks to all students in consultation with Manager

Excellent Learning Curve

A very busy business environment with tourists and MBA students on daily basis. Very friendly personnel and culture that is embraced by everyone from management level to cleaning or security department. Dealing with outside businesses all with a common goal of pleasing our clients while meeting their needs, this includes travel agencies, other contracted hotels for when we have an out flow and company secretaries who organised travel arrangements on behalf of our business students and faculties. We also work closely with different transport companies who help our clients from the air port to anywhere they would like to go or from the GIBS hotel, internally we have to deal with different program me coordinators for each student or groups arriving.

Pros: Chances of growth are there even though limited
Cons: 24 hour service work

Lead by example

Designing and updating floor plans to keep them up to date in case of emergency and fire evacuation.Building relationship with departments allows me to know more about the business.My masters degree comes in handy when executing projects on time and on budget.Having worked in various sectors namely:Consulting,telecommunications and Education has given me a vast experience and knowledge and it has allowed me to lead reasources in order to execute a tasks. Allocating Space for each department allowed me to network with department heads and know more about the business and build relationships.

Incredible opportunity to learn and grow

I knock in at 7 and start working on my spread sheet, I have to collect all my information from the organisations file. I often work alone and have to report back to my boss. I sit among other teams and i get along with them very well.

Pros: Expansion of my knowledge and experience
Cons: Boss not being around, one can not learn much without overshadowing

Great growth opportunity

Small company so everyone knows everyones business flat structure - only a few progress up Long hours and very busy. staff perks are not commensurate with the tough economic times

Pros: fun people to work
Cons: long hours, poor pay, unfair promotion conditions
