Becoming just a number due to new company investment

Gfk was a great family orientated company, where work and home balance was important to them, but that has changed since the company got a new investor, where it is all about the numb thers and not what you contribute. Overall GfK have taught me a lot, and due to it being a global company, it has a lot of potential and reach.

Pros: Great knowledge on Point of Sale research
Cons: You are just a number and not a person

My career highlight

i work at one of the biggest market research houses in South Africa. we conduct research depending on client's brief. i have experience in quantitative research. i have assisted clients/brands with the following: sensory evaluation studies --> if they looking to launch new concept idea/product mystery shopping, U & A, car clinic as well and customer satisfaction studies--> determining NPS. daily task would be: proposal writing, questionnaire designing, sample design, project management, presentation compilation.

Pros: exposure to different methodology
Cons: long hours and many complicated changes

Good

Working at gfk I learned a lot started as an intern then when my learnership ended was offered a permanent position at their panel division as a hotline agent and the support I got was phenomenal...even though there's no growth but I learned a lot

Pros: Colleagues are very accommodating
Cons: No promotions
