GE South Africa Reviews

Excellent learning curve into global operations and large scale project engineering

In my current role at GE South Africa, I have been Lead Electrical Engineer for several projects and am the Department Manager. I have excellent organizational and coordinating skills and enjoy juggling all aspects of a project, from designing, drawing circuitry and cost forecasting, to troubleshooting, conducting quality assurance testing and reporting. In my role, I also deal extensively in Lean/Margin Enhancement driven from engineering, Project Costing for sales team as well as Project Management while maintaining Quality Standards My day-to-day job involves efficiently managing others, communicating complex data to the technical team and breaking down this information for clients and stakeholders. Problem-solving and troubleshooting are tasks which I face on a daily basis and am confident at resolving.

Pros: Multinational projects; Communication and networking across the world; exposure to lean workouts and implementation; tools standardization
Cons: Factory closure; division is being sold

Payroll Operations

Payroll projects and input tools were something I was always fully involved in from the set up phase to test phase to production. The setup/undertaking of the projects that had a direct impact on my operation were a huge success as these projects are now closed with 100% adherence to these.

Pros: Not at all
Cons: Yes
