Good working environment

A typical work day on me it is inclusive of going to farms meeting to collect soil samples, Audit natural resources in order to advise on agricultural land suitability. If not at the farms it includes taking soil samples at ARC for analysis purpose or undertaking office administration which is inclusive of compiling fertilizer recommendation and compiling farm assessment reports. Since some of the farm assessment requires man power, more especially during feasibility assessments, my colleagues and I drive to the farms in a group of two to three. In this case it makes duties to be executed easily. I have learnt to interact with people having different personality, both at the field and office. Learnt to be patient and being strong. I enjoy seeing communities that we service excelling in their dreams which gives me more strength in the passion i have for soil assessment, plant production advisory based on the nature of the soil, looking at both physical and chemical composition.

Pros: Working with diverse specialists
Cons: Slow progress in promotion

As a GISc practitioner in government the job entails working with confidential data about valuable physical and environmental assets. Also, working with people of other disciplines not that informed about GIS and the relevant usage. This is sometimes a challenge in order to teach them to think spatially.

Pros: Government Job Security and Benefits
Cons: Red tape takes time to get things done effectivley
