I was retrenched and was given the opportunity to lean a new industry and new objectives

A typical day: emails, queries, print bank statements, post the cashbook and receipts. Revise the debtors list with the manager and follow up on outstanding payments, process creditors, do follow up’s, reconcile accounts to be paid and load payment for authorization, month end reports and close off the month. The relationship with my co-workers is tense but friendly when the boss is not around. Management is work orientated and believes there is no friendly chatter it is work and only work. I enjoy reconciling accounts and problem solving. The most challenging aspect is with my co-workers there should be a good atmosphere and friendly environment. We spend more time at work than at home. To be productive you have to enjoy where you are and what you are doing. I have learnt that where you are and what you achieve is in your hands, you can make or break….

Pros: Found out the difference between a corporate world and a private business
Cons: There is no opportunity for promotion or growth

Excellent learning curve, very different from previous corporate companies

Pros: Got to experiance a small business compared to the corporate ones I had worked for
Cons: No chance for promotion
