FNB South Africa Reviews

Exposure to banking industry

I got exposure to the different spheres in the banking industry, learned alot about what it has to offer, how it constantly evolves and how that improves our lives. Because I was new to the corporate working environment, I needed alot of help from my coworkers to be comfortable and knowledgeable enough to help clients. I had a great support structure from everyone on the team, fellow consultants and all the managers and I will forever be grateful for the patience they had with me. It was a great opportunity to get out of my shell, learn and continuously improve my communication skills because you worked with different people all the time. I also learned how to explain products to different people in a unique way that they will each understand.

Pros: Learning how to work under pressure and meeting deadlines
Cons: Working on 3 out of 4 Saturdays a month

Great opportunities in learning and developing

It is great working in FNB and it was a great experience. However now is a time to also learn more than just the banking industry. Working with FNB employees is great and they work in a team and they are close. I am also very friendly which has brought me many colleagues that are now friends. Banks are very great but also remain your mind in the banking industry only, it's nice to also take an opportunity to learn more than the mind can see.

Pros: Great banking perks
Cons: Limited salary

Lots of opportunity for movement

Depending on your business you could learn alot alto and grow or be stagnant for years. Central finance is very stagnant though. Only opportunity of growth is to leave. Work is repetitive and inefficient and could be easily automated if there was an actual focus on that. Culture is racially discriminatory and manangement needs to take off their rose coloured glasses. Can't speak for the whole of FNB. Some places are great to work at.

Pros: You can learn alot if you are willing
Cons: Unfair treatment, insufficient career development or stimulating work
