A Day in the office

On any day, start with the morning meetings, update the co-workers and the Boss about the planned day with a review of yesterday's achievements. Capture any new employees and liase with Human Resources Department for documents needed for completion of employee file. Integrity is the most important as everything is done accurately and orderly. Do not take shortcuts or think that since they are not watching let me do this. Be responsible for your actions and if need be where you are struggling, seek help and do not be shy. On the last day of the month, all payroll submitted, paid and third party payments cleared and all i can do is to pat myself at the back. Respect other people in their own positions. You as an individual cannot and will not know everything. Patience is a virtue.

Pros: Handling salary payroll processing for five years without a payment error. Employees approach you with anger and frustrations and in return i do not fight back but deal with the situation with caution and professionally.
Cons: Emotions must not drive people. The hierarchy is graphed for a purpose. Respect your seniors and know who to laugh with.

Exposure to challenges from one site to the other.

1) The job involves making sure that steam is supplied to the users (Laundry, kitchen, plant rooms and wards) without interruption. I have to see to it that the boiler is run effectively . I also oversee the laundry machines and the Industrial kitchen machines. 2) I interact mostly with my fellow fitters of whom we share information on the challenges we encounter. I also work closely with the Electricians on the machines. 3) I have learnt to multi skill . 4) I enjoy the challenge of doing new tasks. 5) Having to do work without adequate material.

Pros: Exposure to new working environments.
Cons: Lack of material, unprofessional and untrained boiler operators.
