Great learning experience particularly in the Financial Services Sector

A typical day at work usually starts with a 15 minute discussion with my colleagues about appeals, if any, changes in the industry and various other issues regarding drafting of Determinations. I then move on to the actually drafting which in itself encompasses various stages. My relationship with my co-workers is a good working relationship which at times extends to outside the office. I have learnt not only how to manage myself, but to manage other people. My investigative and drafting skills have significantly improved. I have gained a lot of experience in workings of the financial services industry. I enjoy the type of work that I do, I've always been a keen drafter. The most challenging aspect of my work that I can think of right now is the fact that the project I am currently working on had previously been halted for a number of years due to various complications of this particular project. Some of our complainants have now been deceased, some respondents liquidated etc.

Excellent management skills

Throughout my career I have accrued a multitude of skills including corporate ICT strategy development and implementation, developing and implementing ICT applications/systems through system development life cycle (SDLC), business analysis, ICT project management, COBIT implementation and I am thoroughly familiar with the ins and outs of designing a strategy that supports business goals. I have a calm nature, with strong leadership, negotiation, communication and decision-making skills.

FAIS Work day

A typical work day at FAIS is very fast paced, what I love the most is your days are never the same. Every day poses a challenge that allows you to grow as an individual and also to learn on how to carry yourself and give you the understanding and importance of personal branding. Being a small entity you find yourself working throughout the organisation which allows you the opportunity to grow and gain experience vastly. The staff is very united and there is always somebody to guide you should you need guidance. I have grown as an individual and have gained experience that allows me to work independently and also as a team player. I enjoy fast pace working and decision making, being able to work independently and the challenge of always being able to solve difficult problems. My job can be challenging a lot but that's what makes it interesting, never knowing what to expect.

Cons: The new management and ill treatment to staff is not acceptable

An entity of government with a young workforce that is passionate about serving the public. The entity has a disadvantage because it is unknown as compared to its sister entities. The entity is staffed by young, energetic employees who are determined to assist the public at everything they are doing.

Pros: Place where one can establish and develop their careers.
Cons: Unknown entity as compared to its sister entities.
