Need to educate myself

I’ve started my career as a Fitter then converted to Millwright, I’ve worked for 10 years at Richards Bay Coal Terminal as an artisan. Then I moved to Hillside Aluminium as artisan and I was seconded to a learner maintenance controller (planning and scheduling). After 10 months I was promoted to maintenance controller then I worked for 3 years. In 2011 I was promoted to Shift maintenance supervisor. Exposure in 1SAP, GSAP and Microsoft Office systems such as Project, Excel and PowerPoint. I’ve completed Mechanical National Diploma and Btech degree in business management. In March 2013 I moved to West Africa in Sierra Leone and work for African Minerals Company as a Millwright technician till March 2015. In June 2015 I joined New concept mining as a Maintenance planner till March 2017. In April 2017 I joined Eskom Rotek as a maintenance planner, till now.

Excellent learning experience

Gain load of experience in operations and SHEQ specially. Learned systems and processes. Promoting health and safety of employees and management leadership is visible within the organization. The company is ISO 14001;2015 and ISO 9001;2015 certified and OHSAS 18001; certified. The safety culture is filtered throughout from employees to visitors and suppliers. The organization always thrives for change and opportunities to better the lifes of the people and the environment, hence the Zero Harm initiative was implemented and it has become norm for the organization. The organization keeps records of SHE starts and always aim to lower the LTIFR every year,which is part of the company's objectives with is set out yearly and monitored every month. Self audit is done per schedule that is drawn up and accepted for implementation by management of the organization.

Excellent experience

I do daily/2 daily site visits to familiarize myself with the progress on site. Progress updates are once a week with all the reports we need to send to the client as well as Head Office. I have a good relationship with all my co-workers and handle each one with the same respect. I've learnt a lot the last 2 years as we have started to add resources to the schedule and also starting now with earned value, all though I still need more experience in that. I was for about 3 years part of the Electrical Cabling team and was asked to assist the civil team on site, which also give me more experience in Civils. I enjoy working on site as it gives me more experience and to learn new things every day. The most challenging aspects of my job was to learn more about the Electrical side as I'm Mechanical.

Pros: It is a great oppotunity to work on such a big project to give me more experience in my career
Cons: Working ery second Saturday untill 17:00

Allways willing to improve my skills to attend training and cources

Over the pass thirty eight year I use several opportunities to improve my working skills in the various types of the civil , construction and in the miming industry. I build an excellent relation with all my Senior employees and co- workers. In my career I was appointed in several senior positions Sie Agent, Snr Project Manager, Quality Manager in the civil and construction industry. I was also appointed as a Out Buy Manager in the mining industry and receive several outstanding awards. I am a sober, honest and hard working person with proud in my working environment.

Pros: To use all the oppertunities to emprove in the working environment
Cons: Long working hours to insure that all the days work is completed

Passionate about growth

Printing job cards and issuing to artisan, check all the previous days work that was done and not done. Morning meeting with all the artisan and contractors. . The most challenging part is to Purchase orders from procurement.. We have to arrange regular meetings with them and address the issues.

Experience on the power stations turbine floors.

It a great expirience working far away from home and getting to grow more and know more on the engineering department. I have a good working relationship with my co workers. I'm very punctual good team player.sometimes we do feel pressure because we work under production and target to meet within a giving time by the client.

Pros: There are currently less opportunities of working on this company due yo loss of finances on the business
Cons: We work long hours . Twelve hours a day including weekends
