Eskom Pension And Provident Fund Reviews

I am very adaptable and willing to learn .

I am still new in the company so, I don't have any sort of problem with stuff members and I aslo don't know a lot of people . At the moment the relationship between me and my colleagues is obviously very warm and kind. I do data capturing so at the moment I haven't came across something challenging.

Pros: Gain experience
Cons: To gain experience and learn new things

Exposure to various functions and resilliance to withstand any environment

The company offers opportunities for one to grow in other arrears such as project involvement, presentations and events management apart from daily duties. The structure is however autocratic and they are rigid with regards to certain policies such as flexi hours. Red tape from senior management does put constraints on one as proposals for business improvements and resolution of queries often drag out too long

Pros: I have learnt alot of new skills
Cons: rigid working hours

Excellent full financial function capabilities

I am currently a Management Accountant at Eskom Pension & Provident Fund. I have worked in the Asset management industry from 2006 and have the knowledge of all its daily functions from the administration of funds to producing financial statements. I have had the opportunity to understand how underlying instruments are calculated as well as quick solutions to issues when they arise. This has allowed me to increase my skills analytically as well as allowing me to use the systems to problem solve in reasonable time with deadlines met. I have assumed many leadership roles through school, college, sports and now in the work environment. I am currently studying my post grad in Bcomm Accounting and am going to further my studies with adding CTA next year and CFA thereafter. I am a good planner, motivator and driver, qualities required to get my team to meet the expectations of business. I take ownership for the work allocated to me and complete all functions to the best of my ability.

Pros: Great leadership skills
Cons: Long working hours

Good numerical skills

I have good numerical skills, and I am able perform manual calculations without the reliance of the system in order to check accuracy. I had the best manager and my team that reported to me was the best. We had difficulties working with some other departments since they did not understand what we do. We held several training sessions to try and make them understand but still when it came to reality they were not very good team players. Our Exec did not show that they believe in the vision of the company. There were things that were done which did not follow the policies of the company. Like the other time the CEO sent an email saying that everyone was going to get 5% salary increase and my performance that year was very good and ended up being valued together with some of my colleagues that we all knew that they did not pull their weight.

Pros: Great manager
Cons: Managers do not sing from the same hymn sheet

Good corporate environment for someone that’s starting their career

The overall experience at EPPF has been a great one. The culture is abit slow but okay for someone who is kicking off their corporate career. There’s always alot learn from my coworkers. What I enjoy most about the job is learning new things all and tackling new challenges. The most challenging aspects about the job is currently my manager’s communication skills.

Pros: There’s always something new to learn and they give you a chance to develop yourself
Cons: Long working hours mostly now during lockdown

Good starting field

The corporate culture is good and accommodating to most employees. The drive and need to excel in your work is always being expressed by managers. The communication channels relating to work matters are excellent . Nothing too challenging so far because the industry does not have that much pressure.

Pros: Excellent working resources
Cons: No room for growth
