There are great opportunities within the organisation, especial if you equip yourself. There are opportunities offered by the organisation in the form of learning and development, and possible for promotional opportunities. A typical work day - 9 hr shift during the day and with full of its challenges. The relationship with co-workers is pleasant across all levels of the organisation. Being a Clerk of Works and Project Coordinator, taught me how to supervise and manage multi project teams and different stakeholders, and create a long-term relationship with our previous and current clients/customers. The most part of my job I enjoy most is meeting different people, interacting with the communities, environment, creating good relations, although at first it seems challenging. Meeting difficult stakeholders, at some point seem not to care at all. But in the end the client/customer is at the center of the picture, and every stakeholder in the end is happy.
Pros: There are great opportunities for career development in the form of study bursary and job promotion.
Cons: I cope working long hours and travelling long distance to attend to different project sites.

In my environment working for 6 Project Manager and support all Office staff I am very busy and love the idea of doing all over work ad support my co workers. We are a great team and respect each other. I'm working with a diverse group of people, from Ghana, Botswana and America and all over the world. Learned to respect people with different culture and way of thinking.
Pros: I have been promoted 3 times workingfor Eskom/Black & Veatch.
Cons: Working 50km away from home.

Great Experience and challenging
The company I work for has given me real empowerment. The environment allows for creativity and innovation. The peers are both friendly and also challenging at times. I have learnt a lot about my capability and have been able to be part of the Board. I enjoy the fact that I have been given opportunities which have allowed to learn various sectors of the insurance, that is from client servicing, underwriting, legal and compliance, claims and running a captive insurance company

Excellent learning curve
not a very demanding job, requires lots of skills as well as technical ability and self-management, deadlines are issued and KPIs are set. a typical work day encapsulates technical and non technical challenges, i have work set in place,i have to provide a solution and implement it. i have good relationships with colleagues as i am a social person once comfortable. my experiences at Eskom, i have learnt multiple programming languages which i was able to apply to projects effectively as well as hardware design which helped me in closing projects. i learnt how to use different software which are related to hardware and software design as well as learnt skills which are necessary for a working environment. the part i enjoy most is the amount i have learnt from my colleagues as well as the amount of experience i have gained about the working environment and working in teams. i enjoy applying my technical abilities to provide an efficient solution to a problem as well as managing projects and coordinating them.

Adopting to change is crucial
Assisting senior management with strategic outputs linked to board . Advising senior management on how to address finance, reporting and governance related matters. Flat line of reporting , reporting directly to senior manager . Team work is important as the department's outputs linked . Colleagues are friendly and embrace the ethos of Sinobuntu I enjoy preparing dashboards and reports for executive consumption I also enjoy having access to executives and engaging with them on strategic related matters . I have learnt to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines , most importantly I have learnt to develop the necessary confidence to engage with senior management including executives. The most challenging aspect of my job is managing stakeholders and taking them through change management

Full Creditors and Financial Accounting General Ledger Accounts
Started in Eskom as Accounts Payable Assistant Officer, serving power generation projects, promoted to Accounts Payable Supervisor, reviewing Creditors recons, authorizing payments both local and foreign, staff supervision, now currently serving as Accounts Payable Controller, preparing GL balances recons, draw vendor view lists and accruals for recon purposes
Pros: Extensive knowledge about the business runnings and the impact of my contributions in the bigger picture

Great opportunities to learn if you are self motivated and proactive
The job entails working in Group Finance and performing various tasks. The tasks range from monthly reporting, preparing board packs, preparing annual financial statements, income tax returns and performing valuations.

Learner Plant Operator
I work at learnership at operator at Kendal Eskom. I check the palnt. Do operating the plant. Do check sheet. Work shafts. I have trained Ash, coal, sulphur, hydrogen, water, bulk fuel plant.
Pros: Work Hard

Average working environment. Minimal room for personal and professional growth. Remote locations make lifestyle difficult. However you do get exposed to a different type of engineering.
