At Dube Tradeport, I work from 8 to 4:30. We go on site a lot to check on contractors also to monitor if they follow the rules of contract. The challenging part of the work is to update as built because some contractors do not send the final as built plans they send the proposed as built plans. This cause problems because when contractors go on site to do excavating on site they hit services that we had knowledge of some contractors we give updated services but they still hit services. During my time at Dube tradeport i work at Planning division, with project managers, Town planners, CIVIL Engineers and Environmentalist. GIS skills were used in all of these sub division depending on request for example for environmentalist i digitized areas that needed alien clearing we often went on site with them took GPS coordinate than produced map when we got to the office.

Company deals with property development and leasing,Air Cargo,NKP and expanded my knowledge

This is a company that has international clientelle on premises.The operations includes property development ,leasing,property maintenance,AgriZone facility as well as aSpecial economic Zone.International manufacturing companies like Samsung,Branco,CIPLA are opreating from the precinct.Clients request variety of services from confirmation of attendance using access control,CCTV footage to investigate incidents.Security and alarm systems should be always working.Phsysical security is of the best standart with area maintaining zero crime incident yet it is freequented by over 2000 people per day average of 600 vehicles and 200 trucks a day.Safety is our priority no safety incident reported.Relationship with co-workers is excellent though invetigations have to be conducted on colleagues.There are international clients who always require best service.Investigation on senior Management you become a target andva threat to be removedand this is the biggest challenge.

I am a maintanance intern at dube trade port.

• I work as a maintenance technician, attending to faults within the company. • I repair u.p.s and design solar systems for back up purposes. • Doing meter readings, improving the electrical infrastructure within the company to be more efficient. • Doing engineering administration and also doing periodic checking on the m.v and generator plant rooms. • Perform planned preventative maintenance. • Provide input into project design, coordinate and implementation of relevant projects. • Monitor performance of contractors and service providers according to service level agreement. • Ensure safe execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities • Monitor and manage quality of maintenance work. • I am computer literate, I work on MDA system to log job cards and monitor jobs. • I do engineering administration, I do performance and utilities graphs.

Technical skill

It a good company, with nice technical experience, good co-workers working as a team, enjoying being part of the team,I learnt problem solving, technical skills

Pros: Supervisor give the job card per day or break down to be attended, project to be implemented, tasks to be achieved per week and per day.
Cons: Normal working hours
