DR. C. BARKER Reviews

Hard working, Fast learner,

I'm currently working for dr. Barker since 2014. I start my day at 9:00, mostly at 8:30 clean up where I can. Greet patients as they came in, updating exciting patients details as they came in, uploading new patients on the system. We are working on elxir-medemass. I'm working at a gynaecologist so I'm making appointments will be for different reasons and with different doctors. I also make sure the doctors cash flow for the day is correct. I send out messages of papsmear results or even blood results. I email patients their scripts and sicknotes if required. I do refunds for patients as well and sometimes followup on medical aid regarding the refunds.I have a very open relationship with my co-worker as well as my boss. I enjoy my current job because it is very relaxed environment. The most challenging part of my job is contacting patients regarding their payment.

Pros: Great opporunity
Cons: Long working hours

EXCELLENT LEARNING CURVE

The company I'm currently working at is quit flexible regarding time. I will work long hours, but is excused if I came in late because of traveling. I always do my best to be in as early as possible. My relationship[ with my boss and co-worker is more friendship related rather than I work under someone or above. I greet the patients as they enter the rooms, help them to update their files or open up a new one, I also advice them if need be as to where they can go if its not with us. I'm passionate about my job so everything that I do I do it to the best of my abilities. The most challenging part of my job would be dealing with impatient patients. Patients that do not understand if the doctor is running late, patients that do not understand why they have an outstanding amount for their consultations ect. I love my job basically because you do get the patients that appreciate you, whenever you need to reschedule an appointment or of some sort.

Pros: Great learning experience, traing ground for new skills
Cons: wont be an expert within this field, long working hours, traveling

EXCELLENT LEARNING CURVE

I work at a medical practice where I get in contact with different kinds of people. I great them as they enter the room, make them known for their visit, for example pregnancy check up or just a normal papsmear ect. I also make sure the doctor has everything she needs, such as results she require for the patient she is about to see. I have a more friendship with my co-workers rather than a more professional relationship. The experience I have undergo was, the way I treat people that's they way they will treat me. How to work under pressure in the sense, the doctors day don't also go as planned and I need to be heads up. The things I enjoy most about my current job is a successful day at the office. Doctor has delivered a few babies and have had consultations with her other patients. The most challenging part about my job is patients that is being inpatient about appointments, scripts, referrals and phone calls.

Pros: Great learning experience, training ground for new skills
Cons: Long working hours

Medical Receptionist

I'm currently working at a medical practice as a medical receptionist. At the front desk I am in charge, of the diary, booking of appointment as well as the telephones. Every call goes through me and I will put you through to the doctor or the accounts, which ever one the person on the phone prefers. I also make sure that the doctors daily transactions are correct and correspond with the cash we make every day. I have more a friendship relationship with my colleague, as we are only two in the office. Becoming a medical receptionist was my first official job, so I have learned a lot, not knowing how to answer a phone to becoming very confident in it. I didn't know how to work with the system as well, but within two weeks I had it under control.

Pros: learning opportunity
Cons: Long working hours
