Dr Moerat Reviews

A stepping stone for a better opportunity

Firstly, I ensure all appointments are booked properly (allowing for walk-ins and or emergencies) and making sure patient files are in order and benefits are checked for medical aid patients. My co-workers and i are constantly in contact updating one another regarding patient activity i.e reports, results, specialist appointments, referrals and general office admin. I learn something new in the medical field everyday. More importantly, I have learnt how to interact compassionately with other human beings. I enjoy assisting Doctor with minor procedures and any dispensary related work. What i find challenging is separating from work once its home-time and switching off from work once i am with my family.

Pros: Interacting with people and making a difference in someones life everyday.
Cons: Long hours, weekends included. No benefits, no bonus, Salary not market related

Stepping stone, Keeping my skills polished

My day starts with booking appointments and checking benefits online and telephonically. I check blood pressure of patients before the doctor gets in. Once the doctor starts, I would assist with minor procedures and dispense medication as instructed by the doctor. My co-workers and I work very well as a team and we all help one another. I enjoy dispensing of medicines, ordering and mixing. The most challenging aspects of my job would be assisting with a patients whose blood pressure and sugar levels are very low as such a patient would require constant attention and monitoring.

Pros: Its less than 20 km from where I live
Cons: Salary is not market related and hours are too long
