DJO Global Reviews

Being persistent

I was a brand new and inexperienced rep. One of the first few hospitals I approached on my own and showcased my products to gave mixed reviews. All the Drs, theatre and nursing staff loved the presentation and expressed a great need. The pharmacy manager and final decision maker just refused, and without good reason. I decided not to push her too hard lest I get a completely " away response" - at least she was taking my calls and meetings. I kept in contact with the staff periodically and also just checked in with the pharmacy manager monthly. Eventually I won the contract to place my equipment in every ward of that hospital. I learnt that with gentle persuasion and persistence any situation can be turned around. This placement was especially key because it meant that all the surrounding smaller hospitals would also move over as they often required stock from the hospital I won. I successfully got a foothold to move an entire area over to our product.

Pros: Flexible working hours, autonomy, travel opportunities,
Cons: Long hours, lack of infrastructure- IT, at times lonely.
