An organisation still in the infancy of understanding employee needs

This is a great organisation to hone skills and gain extensive knowledge about the financial sectors and one's own profession. However, this does not translate into a great salary package as money is not something spent on gaining the best talent. The general culture of people is great and you will be meet with some of the most unique characters. People are always welcoming and happy to help although they are pretty swamped with deliverables as there is usually a shortage of staff. If you are early into your career, Discovery will give you the right tools and exposure to accelerate your career. However, it is difficult for most to see this as a long-term employer due to monetary packs being way lower than competitors and career growth specifically into leadership being very difficult from staff/specialist level. It is still seen as a "family business" and slowly trying to become a professional organisation as is required. Most spend about 3 years before leaving.

Cons: Actuarial lead organisation, bureaucratically, poor leadership across business functions

Excellent platform to learn and grow skills and interpersonal relationship.

A typical day involves performing audits loading with co workers and underwriters to ensure smooth process of underwriting function. Liaising with different people to attain different goals and deadlines. Fixing covers on the systems when this didn't happen as suppose to. Issuing audits and requirements letters to brokers and clients.

Cons: Systems issues
