REFUNDS CONTROLLER

Stops and adjustments clerk imports. Technical Tariff Determinations Telephonic with customs excise (CBCU/ANTI-SMUGGLING /POST CLEARANCE INSPECTION. Processing of voucher of correction (VOC) to customs & excise. Framing of bills of entry to customs & excise etc. Processing of voucher of correction (VOC). Calculations on customs duties and VAT to our clients. To submit refund claim to customs and to monitor the progress of the same To respond and to refund queries from customs. To render advice to clients To answer clients Tariff and duty queries. Processing of TARIFF DETERMENATION NUMBER (TDN) and monitor the progress of the same Processing of SAP cases to customs and monitor the progress of the same and advise clients once Sap Cases are closed.

Good learning curve

I've learned alot in the passed years. The finance side, customer services, sales ,operationss and retail side. But with all this experiance I feel under paid

I’m a leader on the journey from good to great

Day to day work I had its own challenges, we need to make sure that we proactively contact customers to help clear their shipments before flights arrive in South Africa , we have to split the team into 3 sections , one handles flight arriving on that day, arrival tomorrow and non arrivals then also focus on shipments that have landed in bond. I’ve mastered the flights arrival and assigning work to the team based in all these criteria has made me an expect in my field. I’m always available on the floor have a open door policy and as much as I have an open door policy my team know that I respect hierarchy. They need to first approach their supervisor and if he/she can’t help then I’m available to help . Work well with everyone in my team

Cons: Working on weekends and Christmas days

Work very well under pressure.

A typical work day is starting at 8:00 and prioritise the most important and sort out queries immediately. Prepare urgent payments before 10:00. Relationship with colleagues is important as they are your internal customers. So keeping a friendly relationship with colleagues is crucial. Learned that it's equally important to stay polite to all customers as we are also customers to those customers. I enjoy the open environment with my colleagues and the challenges the work brings. Learning new things everyday. Month end and financial year end. Stressful but we always pull together as a team and meet deadlines.

Pros: promotion always opens you up for bigger opportunities and skills development
Cons: keeping you away from home more but in our line of work its to be expected.
