Excellent learning curve

I am completing my internship at the Department of higher Education, Western Cape Regional office. An excellent work experience opportunity, but no guarantee of permanent employment after contract expires. I deal with both CET & TVET daily Administrative duties. We have a very diverse work culture where one can openly communicate with co-workers which makes every aspect of your work must relaxing to handle. I have to learn to effectively communicate and your not here to make friends but to complete one's daily activities effective & efficiently as possible and its important to keep to deadlines. Help where you can even if it is not in one's job description. Open communication is what I enjoy most, because at the end of the day if effective communication does not exist certain problems can arise (misunderstandings)etc. Its best to be open and fair. All jobs have their challenges, but at this point if challenges do arise there is must support from fellow co-workers.

Excellent learning environment

A typical working day is based on my weekly plan, this is made possible by relating to my colleagues on the basis that we manage to work well as a team and sound relations make it possible to over come any challenges that we might have. In DHET i learnt the importance of team work and transferring skill to fellow subordinates and moreover communication is key. What i enjoy the most is that each day has its own challenges which keeps one on their toes. The most challenging aspect about the job is the geographical situation and diverse culture.

Nice working enviornment

I have learned to work under pressure and with a team and I have enjoyed learning new things within the construction .I had great relationship with my co-workers and the typical working day was different depending on the scope of work.

Working Environment

Recruitment is ongoing. Relationship with colleagues is excellent. Enjoy facilitating .The most challenging aspect is absenteeism of students where one have to find them.

Excellent learning experience

Excellent newslearning experience for youngsters, but no future growth prospects if you are not related orfriends with people in higher authority as well as in trade unions.

If only my boss respected family time

not enough hours in the day. work follows you home. i get along with everyone. i have learnt to deal with different personalities from different religious/cultural and socio-economiucal backgrounds and how to appreciate and be sensitive to these elements. what is most rewarding, the relationships ive built. the most challenging aspect is the fact that management cant manage their time properly which affects my personal life as tasks and instructions always come in when its family time and it always urgent. and i dont get paid overtime for doing additional work it is just expected of me.
