Align the department’s information management systems, Infrastructure, and Information Technology (IT) strategy (as enabler) with the strategic direction, management plans and the business processes of the department, with due consideration of the strategic direction of the Government. Establish IT plans to give effect to the strategic direction and management plans of the department. Ensure operational efficiency and improvement of IT Governance in the department.

Good interpersonal skills

Training and development, assessing and evaluating performance assessments for all employees within the department. Doing skills audit, submitting reports and running and graduates programs such as learnership, Internship and Work integrated learning. Facilitation and assessment where very challenging as an SDF and compiling training needs. I am a team of though I also enjoy working independently because it gives me a golden opportunity to overcome my challenges and do my best in my daily duties. Assisted in Recruitment and selection of Interns , worked on Persal system capturing certificates and bursaries.

Cons: Willing to work long hours to fulfil the mandate of the department

Serving at the Department of Military Veterans

Department of Military Veterans is providing services to military veterans who have fought for the freedom of our country. It is very interesting to learn about their experiences in exile and to see the joy in their faces when they narrate their stories from exile to be reunited with their families in SA. I have learnt is to be selfless and a servant for the sake of other people and to know my history so I can appreciate my present . The most challenging thing is acknowledging that we have limited resources to meet everyone's needs.

Excellent learning activities

Working at the Department of Military Veterans has given me so much knowledge and skills. Dealing with different people and resolving their problems has made me a strong and a busy person. I have learnt good communication skills, including excel, which i had so little information about it. Administration work improves my interpersonal skills, as i deal with different people who are veterans, with their own minds. I have a very good relationship with my colleagues and they are very kind and make you fell at home. I enjoy solving matters and being recognised by veterans and superiors. It is very challenging to work with military veterans because when they want you to solve their problems, they want it solved right away.

Excellent organisational structure

i have learnt so much in the acquisition unit, i have rotated from acquisition to demand, logistics,tendering and assets. i had a good working relationship with my superiors and i enjoyed the working hours that were given to us.

Pros: fewer opportunities for permanent jobs
Cons: normal working hours (8 hours)
