Department of Cooperative Governance And Traditional Affairs Reviews

Being at service to the public by giving service to the driving force behind the scenes

- A busy environment - Have to be always handson and ready to serve by giving assistance to end users - Making sure systems are working properly so that Executives can complete their daily tasks - Knowing how to handle user/ executive (people skills) - Personality skills - I enjoy making a difference and being ahead with everything in my line of work - The challenging aspects of the job in Telecommunications is dealing with matters that are out of my control and are caused by a breakdown or natural causes such as power failure that affects the systems. When servers are down, its hard to fully be of assistance to end-users.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn more about IT Infrastructure
Cons: Impatient end-users

Work

One has to be accurate and swon to secrecy as we deal with very sensitive matters. It's very demanding as one has to meet dead lines. One can not work alone therefore we have a great team. Both managers and the interns.

Pros: Pushes one to the limits
Cons: Zero chances of promotion or being employed at a permanent basis

Learning something new about business everyday

a typical work day starts very early and people are always moving around in the office dealing with something about finance or anti corruption. although i am the youngest in my department, the other employees treat me like we are all the same age and respect me in that manner. i have learnt how to solve problems using the law better and have also learnt that not all businesses or companies have good days. the most challenging aspect of this job are the long work hours and having to wake up very early the next day to come to work. also, the amount of corruption that is in all departments is at an alarming amount, therefore finding ways to prevent also becomes very challenging

Pros: great working environment with many experienced people
Cons: Long working hours and hardly any days off due to the amount of travelling

Thobeks Review

I am a highly motivated young woman, with a passion for social science research of which it is the field I have worked in and accumulated experience and knowledge over the years. I particularly love research because it gives opportunity for growth, it is a sector where one is constantly learning in different subjects. It also allows one to constantly interact with different people in different engagements where we are again learning and learn about the different personalities of our colleagues. It is a rigorous process that is unending therefore one has to constantly put in the hours and work overtime in a team.

Pros: Constant growth through learning
Cons: Long working hours
