A number of Challenges exist

Delmas Coal hasn't produced the targeted monthly tonnages for over 8 years except once last year. This has introduced severe shortage of funds to recapitalize and maintain older infrastructure including production machinery. A backlog of infrastructure maintenance exists currently and production rates have not improved significantly despite the large amount of investment made on maintaining equipment. Other challenges at Delmas Coal include compliance to health, enviromnetal and safety standards. Delmas Coal is a relatively old mine which was designed based on older legislation which was much less demanding than the current.

Pros: Many opportunities for self-development exist.
Cons: Long Working Hours. Compliance challenges as the mine is a relatively old mine. Poor production over the recent years lead to poor maintenance of infrastructure.
