Cullinan is a wonderful copany to work for with an excellent management team

There is a good team spirit and employee management relationship is good. As in any supervisory post people management\relationsips is the most important. We have that to a large extent. The fact that money is being invested in the company to extend life of mine and improve the processing plant gives you a sense of job security in that the mine will continue to operate in a difficult economic climate.

Pros: Up grade of mine and plant. plesant work culture
Cons: Reduced work force as a result of new plant design.

Excellent

Very greatful to work for Cullinan Diamond Mine. Its a world class company which treat everyone with respect, it's complies with mining and labour acts. Cullinan Mine belief in employees development to sustained growth and sustainability, everyone has development fund which company contributes to every employee.

A good platform in building a career.

Working for Cullinan Diamond Mine has been what I know for the past sixteen years as it's what I have done for a greater part of my life. Since it's a company I have worked for a longer period, it has taught me all I know and my experience has been gained here. Being in a supervisory role for longer has built my character and built me to challenge for career prospects. My day comprises of investing my energy for twelve long hours of work at the same time ensuring that we meet our daily production targets. Leading from the frond I have to ensure my subordinates are up to standards with the company's codes of practices. I have learned to understand different personalities as its key to a positive results. The challenge gets to one's nerves when results are not coming your way and you have to pick the morale up. All in all I have enjoyed my time here as a leader in my team.

Cons: When results are not in your favour

Excellent, dedicated,honesty and hard working

I'm a dedicated person who started my career as an operator worked hard to be a shift supervisor, I earning my experience in working with different mines and people personalities. I'm a very hard working and dedicated professional who always have pleasure when my daily target is reached.

Working in a highly unionized environment

Working at a highly unionized mine keeps you on your toes. You never really know what to expect and you are constantly learning and growing. You are constantly challenged and you always have to be ready.

Silica mining

Good learning experience to learn about glass manufacturers and supplying. The company is small and still developing. Silica are all over the world and everywhere. Silica contains small glass particles and that is were our glass comes from. The brown colour beer bottles are direct result of silica sand (amber) no colouring.

Cons: Long hours

Challenging

The stress levels are seasonal, monthly and annual with end of period. Payroll and finance are the day to day. Work environment is peaceful, a family away from home. Safety standards are tops.

Pros: A lot to learn
Cons: Less prospects of promotion

The implementation of contops shifts

its a learning organisation with a lot of good working relations amongst employees and management. the company has four operations across the country and they produce un polished and uncut diamonds. the company is also involved with community projects as guided by the social labour plan

Pros: we are always dealing with theft cases as employees are stealing diamonds
Cons: there is sometimes protest actions from the community as they are always looking for employment opportunities

I have learned to take care of my safety and for my colleagues safety as well.

I am able to operate the plant, assist in the maintanance of the plant. Attending to any production breakdown and making sure that the problem is solved. I do daily plant inspections and report any unsafe acts or conditions found.

Pros: I will bring the skill that I have achieved on my previous work.
Cons: I can work long hours or even overtime if needed. I am currently working contops shifts and I don't see any problem with that.
